whatcha think?

Infinity KAPPA 120.3SE 12'' Subwoofer

any comments on this sub? i've heard some good stuff about it on other forums, but i figured i check it out with a large forum before i dropped the cash. i've built a dual ported enclosure for a pair of them (2 cubic feet per each sub!), but 2 cubic feet per sub seems pretty normal for 12''s when ported. i've got pics of the box under construction, but i want to carpet it and install the amp/subs/enclosure completely before posting them. wow, i'm off topic. anyways, what do you guys think/heard about this sub woofer???

btw, the subs are 300w rms each
and my amp is the audiobahn a6004t which when bridged gives off 300wX2 rms

Kappas are great when teamed with a ported box. Good set up should sound really nice

I just put one of those in a small sealed box yesterday and I love it. I'm sure it would sound great ported as well.

here's a link to infinity's "web manual". they say to tune the port to 30hz.

ive only heard the new kappas sealed, four in a matrix company demo car.

i dont know how they tuned it, but playing music was really lackluster in quality. but when he popped in star wars, i can tell you he spent alot of time tuning to watch movies! a very capable car theater woofer, definitely enahnced movie enjoyment.

so im sure with a bit of tuning and proper box construction, you can make it a musical woofer as well.

edit: for port tuning, readong material, id definitely grab winISD (www.linearteam.org) and read the port tutorial on JL's website www.jlaudio.com.

JL has perhaps one of the most complete tutorial websites out there for a company website and does a fantastic job explaining an laymans terms port mechanics, as well as includes the infamous port calculation equasion.

good luck!
