Get a load of this...
My friend who just got a 15" Kicker comp recently had wierd burp sounds coming from his sub after hard basslines hit.. he tried lots of stuff to fix it but nothing practical worked.. when he went to check the sub itself ALL FOUR wires running from the VC to the cone were cut into at the same place on all of them, inspecting how this could've happened we saw the somehow when the subs hit hard, the cone must've pushed each wire down against the chasis of the sub and affectivly gullotined the ***** out of them without cutting through. The sub still hits, he put tape around the cuts and along the jagged edge of the sub chasis, but how the hell is that possible?? I have never even heard of something that ludacris but now I've seen it.. his situation is this: 15" Kicker sub in a huge sealed enclosure with all 4 channels of a cheap Crunch USA 4175 amp bridged to each the dual 4ohm VC's, gains are maybe 1/8 the way up and the amp gets extremely hot after like 30 mins of use (a 30A fuse recently melted on him, didn't brake though).. so thats it, if someone could shed some knowledge on any of these things please do so.. thanks guys.

Were the cuts clean or were the wired frayed? I have seen this happen before, when the sub simply hyperextends itself and rips the leads stright off. There is actually a point in the Eminem song "Without Me" at the start, the little reverb type thing before he says "I've created a monster!" that has a 4inch excursion on Cerwin Vega Strokers, I've seen one of our customers blow 4 15" Storkers at the same time from this simple note...
Does the samp ever cut out on him? I dont know exactly how his sub is wired, but he could running them at an ohm load the crunch can't handle...

no sub on the market has 4 inch excursion as of yet, much yet strokers (which may i add is practically an obsolete speaker)
a stroker has 23 mm's, or .9 inches of excursion in each direction, which would still add to only 1.8 inches of excursion. you can see that here: http://cerwinvega.com/products/pdf/s...s/apstkr15.pdf
