hi guys,
i need help with my installation..... im running a rockford amp 200rms and a 12 inch rockford sub... my quest is what fuse should i use... the amp came with a 15 amp fuse while the 8 gauge wiring kit came with a 60 amp fuse.. would it be ok to go with the one that came with the kit or do i have to go with the one that came with the amp.... i just want to make sure b4 i fire it up....

Generally it needs to be equal to or greater than what is in the amplifier.
60 amp is fine
The idea is that if something happens to the wire between the battery and the amplifier that it will blow. The fuse in the amplifier protects the amplifier itself.
My brother tested his once when he ran the power wire too close the the e-brake pedal in his truck. The install went fine and then the first time he goes to put on the e-brake, as it moved it cut the casing on the power wire. Instant sparks and it kicked the fuse. Without that fuse it would have kept arcing and shorting. Probably would have set the whole thing on fire.
So 60 amp is fine, and put it as close to the battery as possible. Within 1 ft is best.
