infinity kappa speakers
infinity kappa speakers
hi guys
i dont know a lot about car audio stuff so i could use some help here.
i have a 2003 civic ex and i want to change the sound system.
i plan to get a new headunit and a pair of infinity kappa speakers for the front.
i have a couple of questions though:
do i need to buy an amp to power the speakers and head unit? would my speakers sound better if i did?
what are the differences between the 2way and 3way infinity kappas? is it worth the $50 to get the 3way?
will it be hard to install these speakers?
thanks a lot in advance, i appreciate all the help!

dont need an amplifier.
amplifier will make them loads louder.
difference between the 2 way and the 3 way is the 2 and 3.
IMO not worth the extra $50, in others opinions it is.
if its not too deep of a speaker itll be a snap to install. if it is pretty deep, itll take time, simple stuff, but going through the motions, it takes time to build a speaker ring.

aight last week i tried to do an install on some kappa 3-way 6.5 on the front.....well no such luck! Magnet too deep and i didnt want to shave some of my door off to fit them. The actual magent fits but the housing around the magnet is to wide. and will take some customizing to install. I ended up putting the reference 6002si in the front. They are 2 way slim speakers...and took no modification to install. Added an infinity tweet to it and wah-la sounds great. As for the 6.5 kappas i had laying around. Well i found out the hard way that the rear 6x9 didnt fit kappa's without some mod either. So i ordered a 6x9 ring kit to fit the 6.5 in and now i got the kappa's in the rear and the reference set-up in the front. As for amping them if u are running a decent aftermarket headunit then dont worry about amping them right away i got 35 watts going to each and they still scream to the extenet where the highs are very bright (thats infinity for yah). If u want louder out of them in the future then amp them but not needed right away.
Hope i helped....i dont think many people have infinity's in their car. and i think i am the only one here with the 6002si (being that they just came out about 6mths ago) installed in the doors. Several others have custom fitted components but to shave that ring on ur door.....is a lot of work and i just could not do it to a new car.

IMO YES, get a amplifier. When I first started out my system I had a headunit, and infiniti kappas w/tweeters in the front. I wasnt even playin the music that loud and one of the speakers blew out. There went $200+ plus installing it was a bit*h. So, IMO get an amp, and yes, installing can be a bit*h, those side doors are hard to get off.
