i wish obtix! that would be the tip-top of my list too!
except only the 3 series have MP3 capabilities, and only the 5 series has aux inputs!
HOWEVER! the 5 series has a hardrrive you can buy to go with it, record songs off the radio, download entire CD's onto it, something liek a solid 20 gig of space, 5 minute back-recording, who needs mp3 when you have a superior version of an iPod hooked to yoru radio!
need you not say more? i agree =D

Pioneer p750 and up to 940mp will play mp3s and have an aux input on each model, but you will need an adapter. Both have oel displays which provides great clarity in the sun. I have the p750mp and it sounds good to me. This is my first deck, so I'm impressed and want more...haha. I never knew too much about sound adjustment, but after playing with it, I would love to get my hands on the p940mp with its 13 band equalizer.

Yes friend, but I am sure that colour LCD will pump the price up even more than they are already currently priced at. Dont get me wrong, there is a reason they are prices so high, it is all about quality. But I am not sure how the coloured LCD will contribute to the overall quality of their lines of HU's. I think I would prolly wanna stick to a standard LCD and take out a mortgage to finance the deck, then I will be ready to roll. !!

Well... also speaking with my rep - right now is one of the best times to buy an eclipse deck - they droped thier prices well below the competition. You can get a 5 volt for under $300 now - back in the day the cheapest 5 volt was over $500... you can get n 8 volt for less then $500 now! Screens are still around 2 grand though - anyways - they are doing this to gain thier little corner of the market back - they intend on raising prices only a little when they give all thier decks even the cheapest one a LCD

kenwood excelon x869/x969 are all nice decks, depending on the money you want to spend. both play mp3s, have 3 5V outputs, AUX inputs. display can be changed to different text/ equalizers/ movies, and the angle of the deck can also be adjusted.
edit: LCD screens are quickly becoming the toy in the cereal box: they're cheap to make and increase sales

When the specs on a deck say that AUX Inputs are optional (ie DEH P750MP), what does that mean? Does it have inputs or not, or do you have to add something to it. does it just mean that there is not a direct connection into the deck, but rather you need an adapter? Please help clarify this
yeah, for sure about the eclpise pricewar, my old boss couldnt BELIEVE the 2003 pricesheet when it came in a few months ago
but a coworker of mine did research on all teh radios, said mp3 only came with teh 3 series, aux in only came with teh 5 series.... strange.
ill trust yoru judgement tho, id believe the top 3 searies had aux in as well, too!

Yeah, when a deck says aux is optional, it usually means all you have to do is buy an adapter, which cost about 20 bucks. It will be attatched in the back. Almost all Alpines have an optional aux input. I'm pretty sure whatever model you get that is about 200 bucks will have an optional aux input for the alpine.
Here are some decks you might look at besides the eclipse decks, which these guys listed already. Pioneer p7500mp, p8500mp, p9400mp. Alpine 7894, 7995, 9813, 9815, 7897, or 7898. I listed these according to price by brand. All play mp3s and all have optional aux inputs. All either have adjustable angled display or oel display. I like Pioneer and Alpine, but Clarion isn't too bad either with it's dxz-835.
Best Pioneer priced is p750mp, but can't compare that with the 940mp because that is too high end.
Best Alpine priced I like is the 9815 which has all the options of its top model, but if you want to go another 100 bucks cheaper with only a few less options, the 9813 is also good.
If you get a Clarion, than only get the 835 model. Clarions are usually priced very inexpensive compared to other models, so I would get the best by Clarion, but not many promote it as much as Eclipse and Alpine.
Whiterabbit is like the audio man, so I'm pretty sure if he's all for eclipse, it must have the best sound quality. But not everyone goes all sq, some also like the appearance, so it's still all your choise.
