hey
yea.. what does THD mean when it comes to amps? is lower better? or higher better? or is it lower more sq and higher more power?

It stands for Total Harmonic Distortion. Lower means better sound quality.

its a meaningless term that doesnt change the way an amplifier sounds, good or bad.

The amount of change in harmonic content of the signal as it is amplified. A lower figure indicates less change and a more accurate amp. THD below 0.10% is inaudible.

amount of thd which is audible or inaudible is also dependant to frequency. sub 80 hz frequencies can have a stupid high thd. the human ear is most sensitive around 1000 hz or so.

definitely true. yoru THD of even 5% (phd2) makes no difference if the woofers innacuracies are close to 10%.

its the reason why woofer choice is much more important than amplifier choice, and why thd is a completely irrelevant term.
