I have been reading some of the alternator posts and have a couple of questions about replacing an alternator with a high-output type:
1) Is a good sign the the alternator may need replacing is when the lights dim under heavy loads? (bass bumping)
2) Will the stock alternator just die instantly when under too much of a load, or will it take time to die?
Thanks for any input any of you may have for me.
-I don't want to have to replace my alternator yet, as I am saving for other things.
BTW: I run A LOT of Neons and a pretty strong system myself....Just a little concerned now.

I am running 2 fosgate 800 Watt amps with a undercar neon kit and about 8 other assorted neons in the car. I am also running 2 - 10" JL audio subs.
