"The Brain"???
i was lookin on ebay for the Pioneer AVX-7300DVD and some of the people said that "the brain "is required. on some other websites, though, it doesn't say that it "requires" anything. Please help. Parents will be buyin the HU for my birthday on monday if you guys help me out a little more. thanx so far. oh yeah, by the way, is this an actual CD player like the AVH-6400CD or is this just the screen in dash LCD

An AVX-7300DVD is a 7" tv with a dvd player built in. You will need a processor or "brain" to get sound tho because the 7300dvd its self has no audio outputs. You'll need a AVM-P8000R or AVM-P9000R to make it function properly. Pioneer also used to have an AVM-P7000R but i'm not sure if it will work with the 7300DVD.
Another option is to use a higher end pioneer deck with an IP bus input and use the deck audio amp and outputs. Thats the way my friend has it hooked up in his audi and its so much nicer because you can use the volume **** on his dehp740. To adjust almost everything with the tv and "brain" alone you need to use the remote and i think its a pain in the ***.

Dooooood, just spend a little more and have it all. Just look for a Pioneer AVH-P7480DVD.
RIGHT NOW there are 3 up for auction.
This thing will do pretty much everything. It's got the hideaway box for all the connections ( fits very nicely under a driver's seat
) and the unit has a VERY NICE display.

that is a lot of cash for a 17 year old kid. that is just for the unit then i have to get it installed + wiring.... we are talking almost a grand. i guess i'll just stick with the AVH-6400CD and then hook up a PS2 to it. thanx for the help so far. BTW the AVH-6400CD doesn't require the "brain" right?
Its a celebration bitches!

However, the AVH-P6400CD does accept ONE set of AV in via RCA plugs, so any game system or portable video device can be connected to it. You MAY wish to invest in a set of male to female AV extensions, though. . . . as I'm not sure how long the cables from the back of the deck are going to be. (In my case, the hideaway box just has recepticles for the wires to plug directly into under my driver's seat.) I'm sure you'll figure that out, no problem. AND, you'll have to invest in a power inverter for the game system. Anywhere between $40-$100 should do it.
And to answer your last question, the AVH-P6400CD does not come with a hideaway box (brain) so install should be pretty straight-forward.

I hope you have an alarm for your ride, already.
trust me, you wont be satisfied with the 6400, the GUI sucks, and the 6.5 is not a 7" (like the 7480)
anyhow, if you tell a girl you packin a 6.5 she's gonna be like booo... hahaha jfwy
but really, the extra $$ will pay off, because if you get the 6400 you might save some money, but you will definitely want to upgrade in the future and that would cost even more...

Hey if you are really on a budget how about a stand alone screen and mount it in the cupholder? I got my Ps2 off Ebay and a 6" screen + a power inverter. I hooked everything up and now I have dvd/games for under 400$ which is really cool.
