I dont know if this has been talked about, but I was wondering if there is a DIY or a way to add two speakers into the sedan, in the same place the coupe EX has two extra speakers (where the side mirrors are). Can this be done?
Also, has anyone with a sedan added even more speakers than this, like on the two rear doors? I am sure this would require some type of cutting up the plastic, but this 8 speaker setup would be so much better than the 4 speakers I already had.
Thanks for the help in advance.

just get really good quality speakers. more speakers doesnt mean better sound quality. and the ones on the coupe on the inside/mirror part are tweeters. and yes you can get them and mount them somewhere else, dont know if you can do the same set up like that on a sedan, but maybe.
I dunno what you are driving at. You don't need more speakers, you need better speakers. I am assuming you aren't familiar with stereos at all.
Why didn't you add 4 more headlights to your car instead of getting projectors?
Think about super high end $50,000 stereo systems. They have 2 speakers in front of you. Why? Thats where they want to simulate the voice and music from. Like a concert w/ all the sound coming from in front of you. Music is mixed in two channel stereo.
Now think of an equivalent Surround Sound System. They have speakers all around you. Why? To simulate effects all around you and give you the illusion you are in the middle of the action. Sound is mixed in 5 or more discrete channels; basically a channel for each specific speaker.
Now apply that theory to cars. We have 4 speakers like surround sound but always listen to music that was meant for 2 speakers. What I learned was that for voice to sound really good you need the voice to come from in front of you. For surround effects, like symbols in techno, you want the sound to come from all the speakers. So I got this effect by using components on an amp up front and having my rears off deck power. And even then I am still fading +9 (out of 15) toward the front speakers. This way 85% of the sound is from the front but I still get some surround / echo effect from the rears.
Also an amp is key. It will make them sound night and day better. Slap your hand on the table. Now do it again like your trying to break the table. Same hand, same sound, just a lot more power into it. Thats what adding an amp does. Same speakers, same sound, it just can get a lot louder.
What you want is 4 good speakers on a 4 channel amp. Then see if you think you need more speakers. I have a pair of Diamond Audio M6 6.5" Components up front running off a Kicker 150.2 amp (thats actually 35x2 @ 4 ohms). My gain is half way and they are so loud its rediculous. I can't imagine needing anything more.

some people like having no locatable sound, joe. it just means he likes his music diffrently than you or I, nothing wrong with that.
blackcivic, to achieve what you want, you need as many speakers as possible, in as many different locations as possible. power takes a back seat, even quality takes a back seat. you have 14 speakers playing at low power, it doesnt matter that its low power, with so much cone area it definitely gets loud!
as far as finding actual speaker locations, you just gotta get creative!
youve got yrou dash, cup holders, vents, doors, sailpanels, kickpanels, rear floor (6x9 boxes), rear deck, trunk, and rear interior quarter panels. I count 17 locations for speakers right there, and thats just off the top of my head!
and joe, im not expecting to place or anything, but i got 9 speakers in my car right now (counting a tweeter as a speaker) and ill be competing for SQ come late july. figure out how THAT stage works

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I just wanted to add speakers, or fully upgrade all of my speakers and get an amp. But the advice you have given me tells me that good speakers will be just as good, and an amp will make the sound system sound amazing (which is all I care about, I want to hear the music as it was meant to sound, with no distortion from sh!tty Civic speakers.

not only will better speakers alone help, but its also the install.
dont just go buy new speakers, hook em up to the amp and slap em in there. take the time to mount them properly int eh doors, take the time to sound deaden the inside of the doors. take the time to set your crossover right.
if it was up to me, i'd take the money from your rear speakers and wire and stuff like that, spend it on some kickpanels to put those nice components in.
