exhaust

I have a Thermal R&D Exhaust fed by a AEM CAI and HP Headers and I like how it sounds and the gains I got from it. If you're going with jsut an exhaust be sure to go with a whole cat-back, since the muffler itself isnt all that gives you the sound .. its also your resnator and a full cat-back system will replace all that. With the 2k1 the Cat is in the header so for less restriction you could go with headers also, wich will improve sound. But as exhaust goes, my personal opinion is a thermal R&D Cat-back. I replaces a Tanabe racing medalion with it and I really like the thermal 100x better.

In the 2k1 civics the cat is in the headers? so this means that if i get headers and exhaust, i dont have to run a cat and my muffler will be flush with the rear end?

In the LX/DX the cat is in the header. In the EX it's under the car. To fit an EX catback to an LX/DX you need to splice in an extra 2' or so of piping where the cat should be so that it mates to the LX/DX downpipe.
If you want it to remain legal, then either pick up a stock EX exhaust system and pull the cat out of it, or get an aftermarket high flow unit.
