Are there any good dash trims?
I've had my 03 civic for about three months now and havent done anything to it yet. i was thinking about getting that metal look dash trim from the dealer, but it was kinda expensive. do any of you guys have a a dash trim or anything? are you guys satisfied with it or do you wish that you never put it on? also.. is there a website that sells good ones? any help is appreciated. thanks
painting it looks much better, imo. it doesn't leave that gap in between that you'd get with a trim kit (this is what i hear, so don't take my word for it
)....anyway, people usually do silver, but imma try something like blue (i have an SSM coupe)....

I have the metal look trim that honda offers, it looks really nice, but can get dirty easily. If you are going to go with any trim pieces and not paint I would go with something that you know will probably last instead of bubble up and starting coming up. My friend got some of the carbon fiber trim off ebay for his cougar, and now 6 months later it is pealing off.

I think it looks much better than the dash kits. You'll save almost $100 too.

slystad810 , that paint job looks hot.. do u have any advice of what paint to buy? (what color? any types to avoid?) also, did you take the pieces off before you painted it? how did you take it off? sorry for my newbieness.... thanks
Thanks for all the compliments. The key to a good job is PATIENCE!
I used Plasti-Kote Import Color #5304 (Available at Pep-Boys) and the Plasti-Kote clear coat. I do not reccomend using a primer. Just make sure you wash them good with dishwashing detergent.
I then sprayed about 7-10 very very extremely light coats over the span of a few hours. I waited about 5-15 minutes between each coat. Then I did one light mist of clearcoat, then about 3 more medium coats.
I was actually really suprised how good they came out. I like it much better than the kits. If I had a chance to do it again I might put a little more clearcoat on. The texture of the plastic is still there.
The key to a jood looking job is patience, and very light coats. Also, let it dry for 3-4 hours before you attempt to put it back on. Be very careful not to scratch the paint in the first few days.
Again, I do not reccomend a primer if you're using Plasti-Kote.
As for the dash removal/dissambely, check the DIY section for removing the head unit. Easy, but kinda time consuming. The vents just pop right out. Very easy.
Thanks again for the compliments!
