AEM V2

Has anyone been able to get their hands on a AEM V2 CAI? If you do, can you please tell me how much you purchased it for? Thanks.

I was wondering when this was going to come up......
I called AEM last week and it isn't avail. until mid June and they don't even have a set price for it yet. The difference is they (AEM) have discovered how to make the airflow better and more efficient (blah blah blah). I'm getting one, but only because I don't have a CAI yet and why not get the newest one? I figure it will cost about $450.00 with shipping.

thats a waste of money for a CAI. IMO its not worth it, and i doubt you will notice any gains.

www.nopionline.com has them for much less my friends. why would you want an AEM V2? the V1 gives .5 more hp from a dyno sheet i saw for our cars. my friend has one for his 6th gen vic. i like the V1s better.

well an intake by itself does basically nothing, if you combine it with an exhaust, header, cam gear, pulleys, etc. they will all act together as a whole for better gains.

How is anybody getting them for cheaper when they aren't even for sale yet? And how does anybody have the horsepower and torque gains on the V2 already? And that isn't even a real price.....I just guessed, I like to budget high so when the price is lower I have money left over.

I don't want turbo or NOS, I don't plan on racing this car.....I plan on keeping it for a couple of years and then getting a car that already comes with a turbo. And how does the price of a turbo or NOS for that matter compare to an AEM CAI?? That's too big of a difference to compare.

Ayight guys, check it....

just did some research on this today in fact...
here is a synopse of my findings:

V1 AEM intake = single large chamber for increased air flow into the intake manifold..
hp gain w/o anything else is about 8 - 10 hp according to the dyno sheets i saw

V2 AEM intake = dual chamber ( another tube inside the outer ) up until the joint for the second bend... idea is for intake to create a vaccuum in the latter part of the pipe that is right infront of the manifold.
hp gain here w/o anything else is about 9 - 13 hp according to the dyno sheets i saw
also this unit is going to go for about $100 more than V1 anywhere u see it..

one thing for u all to keep in mind is that if u live in a rainy state and either have the air bypass valve on ur intake to keep water out of the engine or just pull the lower pipe off when it rains and put the filter on the upperr pipe, then it is going to defeat the purpose of the V2 intake... This thing will only benefit u if you live in a very dry place where it NEVER rains or does rain very little..

The air bypass valve is a waste of money IMO because you lose torque in the upper RPM range from the rubber valves opening under the high pressure. Also, there has been all kinds of discussions on how it is useless unless you drive through 3 feet of water and the filter is totally submerged with your foot on the throttle. If you drive through rivers, you shouldn't be driving a civic. Yes, you do have to be careful driving through rain, but if your really careful, you shouldn't have a problem.

Now....as far as these dyno sheets your looking at "thejibb" was these from the AEM website?

the dyno sheets were not from the AEM website...

One of the parts guys at the honda dealer is an old acquaintance of mine...
when i went to talk to him about all this stuff i am ordering he gave me a look see at the dyno tests from his buddy's performance shop in Tucson, Az..

He said he had them on hand so that he could steer people away from the V2 intake since he didnt feel it was worth $100 more to get it...

plus since i live in AZ where they are not well equiped with drainge for streets and during monsoon season it can flood up to 6 - 9 inches in the street in a matter of an hour...

most peeps i have talked to just remove the lower section of intake pipe and put the filter on higher to avoid getting water in the intake.... rather than buy the bypass valve since, just like u said, u lose torque and hp in the upper RPM range..

but like i said if u put the filter on higher up the intake then u lose the whole reason for having the V2....

Moral of the Story: No proof yet that the V2 is worth the extra $100...

CapYoda has a spectacular aura aboutCapYoda has a spectacular aura about
omg 450 for an intake.

u quote too high.

the highest is 250. anymore you're being stupid to buy a part that doesn't do much.

in fact, I wouldn't spend over 150 on any intake.

100 is my max.

I agree its a waste of money, I like my V1 blue CAI. I think I saw a dyno somewhere and it shows the V2 actually produces less horsepower than the V1. It's not a big difference, its around .1 or .5 hp. If you have money to waste go ahead and buy it. As I look at it I would buy a V1 for ~$190 and have some money for another mod.

I think I'll actually save my money and put it toward some rims and not upgrades since there is not point in trying to make my car fast......and maybe after I get my rims the price will be lower and there will be more info. on the V2. Thanks all for the info. And remember, $450 is not what I was quoted.....the guy at AEM gave me some number and then told me to subtract 10 th 20 percent and then I added tax and shipping to that number and came out with $450, but I know it is still way too high!

There were supposed to be improved results for the V2 but I think I'll wait til someone who doesn't work for AEM or a magazine uses it to form an opinion.

I like my V1 anyway.

I hear people all the time freaking out over the CAI gettin wet. The truth is this.....Unless you submerge the filter in water with the car running you're gonna be fine. It rains alot here and we get tons of snow. I had to drive my car in the winter and if it can take all that slush, snow and water I think driving in the rain will be fine. I don't know however if this would ring true with a non-K&N filter.
