exhaust advice

Ok so Im looking to get a single or dual catback exhaust for my 2k1 civic

the problem is that since im only 16.5 everything that goes on my car my parents would need to know about. They are preety linient on buying small things. But since this is something rather noticible they say no. im trying to convince them to let me get an ehaust but my mom said to talk to my dad.

So im hoping that some of you with an exhaust can tell me some benifets of having it like improved gas mileage and stuff like that.

Hopefully I can convinve him to let me get.

Just get it...It'll be too late for them to do anything when you already have it on...

benefits: horsepower (if any?), looks, sound,...

maybe just try to get them to go for an axle back. that way, it isnt as "big" a purchase. a full cat back looks big, but an axle back is only one piece and a muffler.

Don't know if i can truthfully help you out, bro- sorry! They do help throttle response & free up some ponies, but i haven't seen any documentation on fuel efficiency or anything.

well, exhausts tend to be a BAD thing to get as far as gas milage or anything else goes. Your only real arguments could be that they would be less restrictive for air, and won't rust when it rains (but being in Los Angeles, I'm sure it never rains). I'm sure you know that exhausts tend to make loud noise, and it's something that your neighbors will just love T_T;;

Intake, on the other hand, you can argue that it does give u better gas milage, acceleration and other whatnot.

You are only 16.5? You sound like you are 2. You don't use "halfs" any age after 8.

Exhausts are good for attracting cops, losing gas mileage and scraping on speed bumps.

What are they gonna do if you get one against their wishes? If you really want a cat-back, just get it......you might get punished, but seriously...who cares? I sure as hell didn't when I was "16.5". (Gee, I'm a real good influence!)
