OEM Honda body kit... material?
Yeah, it would look very nice that's for sure. It's just that I'm only 18, and since it is my parents car, which I will be helping to pay on, I can't really do everything that I want, that, and I don't really know how

gotta learn somewhere, but i feel you about the parents car, mine is all mine so i get to do anything and everything.
but i would start learning and this is the best place to do it.
but i would start learning and this is the best place to do it. Yeah that's true, I just want to do tasteful stuff, but those red H logo's would look quite nice indeed.
Anyway, just a question about the OEM Honda Aero Kit. We get a lot of snow here in the winter, and since the car is driven all year round, the Aero Kit won't get damaged or anything from driving in the snow will it? Like it isn't that much lower than the stock bumper is it? Cuz from driving in the snow, a few times the rubber lip has come off, and we had to put that back on. Also, going over like speed bumps in parking lots, potholes, and steep driveways won't pose an issue will it?

Well, I can't really say anything about the Aero front, but with the sides, you don't have to worry about speed bumps or steep driveways. I'm pretty sure the front doesn't go much lower than the stock bumper. That's how it is with my OEM front... it isn't that much lower.
As for the sides... look under the side of your car. You know that part where you jack up the car? It's like a long metal (painted) looking strip that runs along underneath the side of your car. The Aero sides are flushed with that.

Oh ok, thanks. Yeah if I recall correctly actually, I looked at the Aero Kit Civic at the dealer, and a stocker, and it wasn't that much lower in the front than the rubber lip, maybe 5mm if that. And now that I think of it more, I don't think Honda would offer them if they would pose a problem like that.
Yah, that's true.
I haven't seen the Aero kit (front and rear) in person. Must be real nice. I wanted to get the Aero rear. I thought it was pretty cool and different. But I didn't know if the black part was going to fade or not. Have you seen that part close up, Majarvis? If so, what is it made of? Just flat black plastic? Like the black plastic unpainted side-mirrors on the LX and DX?

Yeah it's real nice up close, nice and clean looking, it kinda reminds me of how the 99-00 Civic front bumper looks. As for the rear plastic part, no matter what colour you car is, it is a matt-finish black, but it's a little more shiny than the mirrors and door handles I think, looks nice nonetheless.
Oh okay. That's cool!
BTW, will the same model Civic still be available by the time you trade it in 2004? Just curious. I guess because I'm thinking how the 6th gen Civic kinda changed in looks. You think the 7th gen will follow the same path?
6th gen: 96-98, then 99-00
7th gen: 01-03, then 04-05?
I've heard the 8th gen will be coming out in 2006. I dunno. Just a thought.

I dunno, I hope it stays the same, it should anyway. From what I've read on this forum, the 8th gen should be out for the 2005 model year, so I'd be a couple of months early, which is what I want. I want to have the last year of the 7th gens, cuz it will be the most up to date in changes and bug fixes.
Cool! Good idea. Hmm, 2005, eh? Cool. Would you happen to know if Honda will go back to the Si Coupe in 2005-2006? I know 99-00 was the only time Honda has ever made an Si Coupe. (Which is what I truly want... a 2000 Si) But if they do come out with one again (I kinda doubt it), I'd trade in my car for it.
I have no more info other than what I've read here, but personally, I highly doubt that they'll go back to the Coupe for their Si/SiR platform, as I think it has been said that 99-00 was kind of an experiment using the Coupe as the higher performance model, which I personally would like to see revived, but with the rumour of the Civic Type R coming over here, who knows? I'll ask my Honda dealer next time I go down if 2004 will still be the 7th gen (please let it be).

I was hoping they would release the Si in coupe but seeing how they just released the SI/SIR here they prolly wont make many changes at all for a while
If they were smart they would retract the SI coupe/minivan and release the SI in coupe format

lol, Minivan, that pretty much sums it up, although I like to refer to it as a Microvan, it's just too stubby and tall, I mean next to a Coupe, the Coupe is just so much sleeker, that's why if I had the money I'd make my own Civic Type R, it'd be a 2004 Si Coupe, and I'd import the JDM DC5 K20A engine, the Type R, done Majarvis style, but seeing as I haven't won the lottery yet, this will have to wait
Anyway Dragon, do you have any news about the 2004 Civic? Like will it still be a 7th gen? Or what? I'm just wondering cuz I'm hoping the 7th gen will still be available this time next year.

Yes the 2004 Civic will be the 7thgen. The redesign should occur late in 2004 and then be released in the 05 lineup as will the Prelude's(possible) return with redesign. So if it the last year of the 7thgen your looking for take it in the 04 year. If it were my way they would have the Coupe SI they look of the 7thgen coupe is soo much sleeker than the last SI coupe and 100X better then the "microvan"
Ok good, that makes me feel better knowing it will still be there when we trade in the 2001. I wonder what the 8th gen will look like in 2005? Hopefully it won't just be a Coupe version of the Si/SiR
And I agree, the Coupe is just so sleek.

I agree the Coupe looks so much better. I like how we don't have antennas! It just gives it a more clean and smooth look. I love that. Hmmm... a possible return for the Prelude? I'd like to see this!
Man, the day they make an Si Coupe... I'm there! I just hope Honda doesn't lose touch of the design though.

Yeah, a JDM K20A would be simply stunning. Put in the Toda Racing package, Mugen ECU (bumps redline up to 9,100 rpm), and a good exhaust system, and you'd be putting out probably close to 300 hp. I just can't fathem what that would sound and feel like. You would smoke anyone in their little ricers off of the line, cuz they would just think you were a Civic
Yeah exactly, turn into a ricer killing sleeper
Before I kept dreaming about turning an RSX Type S into an Integra Type R, but the more I think about it, the less I like it, because even when people see an RSX, you think "ok, it's got some power, I can't take that" but if you were in your swapped Civic, and a ricer pulled up to you in an RSX, he'd be admiring your licence plate

Which is exactly why I'm torn between turbo and the swap. I don't want to buy the turbo, then later on do the swap knowing I am not going to use the turbo anymore. I could sell it, of course, but not for much after that. Hmmm... now I'm really leaning towards the JDM K20 swap.
