Angry Headers for LX?

Well I've had my 2k1 LX for over a year now and DC Sports still hasn't made a header for my car. I hear about people with a converted ex header into an LX. How would I go about doing that?

DO NOT BOTHER... just get the Kamikaze header that eliminates the cat.. DC makes little to no power compared to it... then you just need to switch back to stock stuff to pass emmissions every year or two, or if you even need to do that where you live... also, you will need a $40 o2 simulator, so the engine runs straight... if you find a deal on this header, i NEEEEEEEEED one like NOW.. so let me know if you find a decent deal, i've seen them for as low as $240 shipped, but not lately...

you can use the ex header you just need to have the exhaust cut and rewelded for the length difference. but the kamikaze is still better and it's made for the lx so you don't have to mess with the exhaust. and getting rid of the cat is a fereral offense so thats your call, i just bought a high flow cat and put that in and welded the second o2 sensor behind that.

I paid $275 shipped from importparts.com

Be sure to ask the local muffler shop about ODB II car regulations in California.
there are rules.
I beleive that you have to reache 30 or 50 thousand mile before changing the cat in Cali.Plus I'm sure about conversion & smog tests.
If you do get a smog done after conversion an let me know if you pass.

You can do the conversion, get the following.

header
aftermarket cat / 2 bungs for the sensors, one before and one after cat.
extend sensor wires to reach bungs.
modify exhaust piping to fit new cat and header.

I'm just worried about smog to get it done.
I have yet to call and ask a shop about to see if it will effect the smog resolutes if I change the cat out.

PM me if you get it done or ask a shop.

So if I get the DC and have the exhaust piping reworked that will pass smog right!

Don't forget the Catalitic converter and wires.
It is illegal to drive in Cali without a cat.
I would highly suggest asking a muffler shop if you will still pass smog before buying anything.
Or even the dealership.
The only reason I'm cautious is because our car are ultra low emition vehicles ( ULEV ) so I don't know if the smog testing is different.
Hey find a smog tester you can give a few bucks too too pass the test.

getting the DC header and redoing the exhaust won't pass smog. they look to see of you have a catalytic converter and they will see that you took it out, so you have to include a new cat into the re-working of the exhaust. only then will it pass smog.

Ok so my plan is to go to the muffler shop that installed my HKS rear section. I needed to get bigger piping put in anyway so I will tell them I want to buy a header that is made for the EX then work that in with a new cat and the piping. Does this sound right?

that is right!
and also:

1. 2 bungs for sensors before and after cat
2. extend the senor wires.

This way you check engine will not stay on.

Keep us posted!
