RS Grilles

I'm thinking of getting one of those RS grilles on eBay. How's the quality? Do they need painting? What about ease of installation?

Finally, is that RS badge removeable? I'm one of those stock-police types.

Thanks!

the quality is fine and i think most come unpainted. the rs badge is a stick on and doesn't have to be put on but it still has the rs "outlined"
in black. the only thing you need (if you have a coupe) is the grill backing/radiator cover for a sedan. installation is cake. good luck.

1. It's pretty decent quality, urethane plastic - I'm happy with it

2. It does need to be painted. It comes black (you could probably get away with it if you have a black car, but if you're as picky as I am, you'll want it painted.

To paint it there are 2 options. First, take it to a shop who quoted me about $90. You might be able to get a cheaper price if you don't live in a hole like I do. Or, you could go down to Pep boys with your factory paint code and have them mix up a can of spray paint and do it that way for about $20. It's up to you. I went the second way and it looks absolutely fine.

3. The RS sticker is optional, however (on mine at least) if you don't stick it on then there's a big black "RS" on the grill itself that looks out of place. I was hoping not to have to put the sticker on, but it's still visible without it. Basically it's a flat surface where you can put the sticker. So yeah, you don't have to put the sticker on but it will look funny.

Hope that helps ..

Would it be possible to chrome the surround instead of painting it to match the chrome trim on the hood. It would look really cool.

they sell a chrome-looking one on ebay already (at least they did a couple weeks ago when i checked). it's around the same price. a member on this site has one, and it doesn't look too bad at all

btw, for this one, the WHOLE thing is chrome, the lip and the grill itself

the real ones i sell come painted with the real RS badges etc but only in silver/while/black. of course they are more than the bootleg unpainted ones.

im willing to bet the knockoffs are made from injected ABS plastice (more rigid) vs. urethane (which one member claimed) just thought id clear that up.

whats so funny about a oem RS badge, its diffrent than the all red stick on one BTW.... hmm maybe i should get a 68 camaro one to stick on there RS rally sport

actaully the material should be cast in the grill back somewhere. so if you see the letter code post it, and we can know for sure.

Can you take the RS off of the RS grille? It seems to me through the pictures that u could snap it off.... and maybe sand it down and repaint that area..

i'd just keep of the RS sticker, and replace that with an EX badge from the rear of your car, that would be neat

Yeah me to. Which grill is that anyway. I think HCCriminal has that grill. Is it just an Alteeza grill? I was supposed to get the RS grill today, but never mind. I don't want to deal w/the whole RS badge and all. So if someone can lemme know what grill is the plain grill, then thanks..."ONE"
