Question projector lights

I'm looking to buy some projectors form my civic and thought I should ask for opinions from owners of projectors. I'm concireing the TYC or the JDM "Haol" ones, both in chrome.
I like the TYC because they're a better brand name (imo) and match my TYC tail lights, but I don't like the useless light just like the OEM ones. I can however get them faily cheap and very fast, which is a definite bonus.
I like the style of the JDM and I like the Halo, although I'm afraid it might look tacky. Also they're cheaper so may not have the same quality.
In any case, I have to buy replacement headlights because my current Hyper bulbs burnt the chrome reflector inside the headlight and my catch on fire any day now. What kinda bulbs do you sugest for these anyway?
Thanks for your input.

If TYC, go chrome. Angel Eyes or Halo look fine in black or chrome, up to ya.

You guys are all saying "GO TYC!!!". and i'm trying to decide between the Black Housing TYC's or the JDM ones by X3 Racing. If anyone can help... what are the pros and cons of both of them? I like how the JDM ones have the "Halo" ring angel eyes. but the TYC's seem to be getting more recognition as being better. why is that? thanx!

I can see a lot of you guys are pro TYC, but as reflekt said I'm not really sure why. I too think they're the better brand. But yeah, you guys have convinced me, I'm going for the TYCs, they'll be here in two days. What kinda bulbs do I need for these. I think H1 and H3 right? Can anyone suggest brands and wattage, I don't wanna screw myself like I did with the Hypers. Also, when installing these, is there a converter or something, I mean, how do I go from one bulb with Hi/Lo to two different bulbs, will I have to cut wires?

The only thing about the halo is that they will burn out in 9-12 months (thats what the car store said)and they also told me they dont make replacements for the ring. So my friend has black projectors with blue halos and i have crome projectors. But i like the Jdm also. most likely they will both be good just seal them asap so they dont get water in them.

Now I was looking for light bulbs for the TYC projectors, I believe they take H1 (High) H3 (Lo). Sylvania Silverstar seems to be a good choice, or MTECs. I was on eBay and they had these XD5 bulbs with 100W. Has anyone put more than 55W in the projectors? Does anything burn (other than the bulb eventually) if you put more than 55W?

tyc uses h1 for high and low

it's usually a bad idea to put higher voltage bulbs into the confine space of a projector, it over heads too fast, degrading the life of a already fragile over abused bulb

Yeah, I'm getting the 20-5921-00 from http://www.fenderworld.com/pages/hondaaccord.asp
The guy's selling them to me for $200 shipped, two days through UPS and no custom fees. Now, what bulbs do I need for these? H1 for Hi and Lo?

so, is there anything wrong with the JDM ones? I think i like them better, cuz they look more slick. but i dont know, everyone's saying go with the TYC's. for one thing, the JDM's, i can get for $165 shipped. and the TYC's for around 200 shipped. no one yet, has really said why anyone should go with the TYC or the JDM's. any opinions? thanx!

Well, the only concrete reason for not going with the JDMs is that they are not DOT aproved due to the white reflector instead of yellow (but that's fine in Canada) and that the halo may burn out after a year which would defeat the whole purpose of having them. And where can I get the JDMs from for $165 shipped?

Yeah, i hear what ur sayin. TYC is definitely a more reliable company and has been around for some time now. Altho, the auctions that have the JDM's say they are DOT approved, but i dont believe it fully. if i do go with these black housed projectors, i think i'm definitely going with the TYC's. unless i go with Catz HID.

The JDM's can be found very cheap on Ebay. where u can find it for $165 shipped.

Peace

The new Headlights that you just bought should already have a wire setup that just plugs into your existing wiring for your OEM lights. You should use the MTEC bulbs too! You will not need to cut any wires for you hi/low beam setup because of the new wire setup attactched to the new headlight. You WILL need to splice into you parking light bulb wire so that the halo will turn on when your parking light goes on.

tycs are good quality...the bulbs should come with the housings

if you want replacements, you need:
h1 - 4ea. (LOW BEAM/HIGH BEAM)
3457 - 2ea. (SIGNAL)
194 - 2ea. (PARKING)

I just bought black Halo projectors for my Rallye Red Civic. Both High and Low beams use h1 bulbs separately (one for hi, one for low). You can keep the stock turn signal.

Basicallys the bulbs that Falken posted about are what you also use for these Halo projectors.

The headlamps are DOT Approved. It is marked along the bottom of the headlight: Sonar (Designer), Patent Number, SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) product serial, and DOT compliant (LEGAL). It doesn't come with a certificate of authenticity with DOT on it, like TYC's does. The cop that pulls you over for these projectors would have to be a real ***, but try to show him the words on the bottom of the headlight anyway when legality is in question. Just don't go putting in Hyper Blue turns signals. That'll get you pulled over for sure.

I like these projectors because the circles are lined up perfectly in a row. The TYCs are kind of 'unorganized' looking. I also think that the Halo adds a touch of 'rice' tackiness, but to some people it might be cool. I'm not going to wire up and use the halo.

I'll have pictures up by the weekend, after I install them tomorrow.

The JDMs are not fine in Canada. Had them and had to take them out (clear reflector)
TYCs come with a card that states they are DOT approved. I have had no hassles with them.
