This is a stupid question but im just curious. Has anyone noticed the two different looking AEM CAI?? They have different stickers with them and look diff, the others have the white AEM and thats it but these are diff, i just wanted to know if there was a difference or if one was newer than the other or what?

CapYoda has a spectacular aura aboutCapYoda has a spectacular aura about
they have a diff. sticker.

there's FOUR AEM CAI for our cars. (not counting 02+ Si)

the AEM CAI for 01+ EX 5spd

and AEM CAI for 01+ DX/LX 5spd (the one you have linked)

they're actually different design...

the EX is stepped design... going from 2.75 inches tube to 2.5 inches... so the filter is larger in diameter too..

the DX/LX is not as long I think in terms of tube length... and its only 2.5 inches in diameter.. and I dont think its a stepped design too... but it could be.

why do they have two different intake? well, this is actually a good thing.. it suggest that AEM could have actually went through the trouble of doing some R&D.. and designed the intake accordingly to each engine (ex's D17A2 with VTEC and DX/LX's D17A1 without VTEC)

anyway.. then there's the V2... which I haven't seen yet. heh. but from looking at part #, there's a different one for the EX, and different one for the DX/LX... it could be the same design as their original CAI.. just with bigger tubbing whatever... *shrug*

Not true. The cuts in the piping for the V1 are different between the EX and the LX/DX, and therefore where the diameter changes in the piping is different. The EX cut and diameter change happens in the middle of the piping near the bend, and the LX/DX happens about 6-8 inches from the filter. I don't think there is a difference in lenght and if there is its not noticable. Hope this helps.

Silly me, I thought it was common knowledge that everything for the EX is different than stuff for the LX/DX. Don't get picky with my words. We were discussing the old style V1 versus the new style V1. Not the different makes. He was really just asking about the sticker on the intake.
