I think it may be as some kind of mud guard or something for the engine bay, I don't know...most cars seem to have it

It's a curb squeegee. It sweeps off the curb so it's nice and clean under you engine.

It's for aerodynamics, reduces the amount of air going under your car. Less air flowing under car = something good that I can't quite place my finger on.

it would move air the air away from the body causing drag... who cares what it's for... just don't mess with it..

aerodynamics huh? they should put one on the rear bumper so air won't caught up in there and cause drag like a parachute

it doesn't add much weight to the car NE ways, so mind as well just leave it on, and yes it better scratching the guard, then the actual front bumper.

It acts as airfoil for under the car and also directs air to the radiator. However it can't be too important cause the OEM lip kit calls for removing the rubber flap thing.
