k & n installation

is it ok not to disconnect the negative battery cable when installing the FIPK? i appreciate any help...

might as well man. as soon as you install it your gonna want to reset the computer, which is simply dont be disconnecting the (-) battery terminal for 15 minutes. as you reset the computer, the new part will be better utilized by allowing the computer to adjust to the better airflow.

u will need to reset your ecu anyways by taking the battery cables off, you need to do this so your engine will recognize the air flow to the engine.

you don't have to if you don't want to... it'll just probably take a quarter tank of gas till the ecu recognizes the added airflow...

It's a good safety practice to disconnect. You could accidentally short something and start a fire, or your car could start and run over you, or any number of things could happen while working under the hood.

There is a reset procedure in the owner's manual. It seems mainly to take the ECU back to the best settings for emissions and maybe fuel economy. Then the ECU picks up on what's going on from there.
