Painting TYC projectors?
I own a red coupe and was thinking to paint a set of TYC projectors red (inside) rather than blank or silver as it comes. Has anyone done this? Is it even possible? And if so, doe it look OK? I was at the auto show yesterday and the Ferrari and Aston Martin had the inside o their proj. headlamps painted, looked wicked, but then again, those are Aston Martins.
Also, I've read so many posts about projectors. Can someone set me streight? Are they better or worst then stock lights? The ones that have the Halo, do they look good? Some have said the Halo looks crappy...
Finally, the reason I want to change my headlights is because I put PIAA H4s in and the little reflecting cone arround the bulb has turned yellow (too much heat I guess). If I were to install projectors, would I be able to put in the same PIAA 100/90W bulbs without burning the lens?

taking apart TYC projectors is not easy. the glue they use is super strong. u must use a heat gun. a normal hairdryer will probably cut off before it gets hot enuff to melt the glue. not only that its hard to put back together as tight as they do at the factory. mines do not sit as perfecty flush with the fender. its not noticable untill u look. also they fog a lil towards the bottom. i need to reseal it better once the weather gets warmer.

I too am looking to paint my projectors, but I also want to paint my altezza tail lights. I think it will look good, but then again I haven't seen anyone that has done this. I know there is a thread about painting the stock headlights black, if you want to search for that and check it out.

Well, I changed my factory tails 'cuz everything was red and there was no contrast. I got the crome TYC tails and they're great, but I was wondering if there's a way to tint the glas on them. I've seen a few threads about "smoking" the front lights but they really just talk about painting the plastic arround the actual lenses, not the plastic covering the whole light. I've seen a 96 style coupe that had one of those blue license place covers and he had tinted the TYC tail lights to match, it really lookes wiked. I got a smoked licence cover and I'd love it if I could smoke the tail light to match, don't know how though.
And one more thing about the tail lights... I also ordered yellow LED bulbs for the signal, but I need one of those reflecting cones to sorta blue onto the LED bulbs in order to reflect all the light back into the lense or else it looks too dim. Does anyone know where to get those refective cones from? Like the ones the headlights have?

I think colour matching projectors is a great idea. I plan on getting a pair of TYC projectors in the spring and if the grey colour doesn't match, I'll probably open them up and spray them Satin Silver Metallic.
I say do it. I think colour matching them red would look awesome.

Just make sure you use factory paint so it matches perfectly. Maybe even have them professionaly done because if it does not match exact then it would look kinda messed up. Later

Well I am planning on painting my replacement grill as well as the mirrors and door handles (although those folding euro mirrors do look tempting but are too expensive) so I can do the lights professionally then too. Besides, I was unable to get factory paint anywhere except for touch-up no spray, so it has to be done professionaly. The one problem I can think of is even if the paint is perfectly matched the colour might be distorted through the plastic cover, at least that's how the aston martins were.
I got this guy selling the TYCs cheap, even cheaper than I've seen on e-bay, plus there's no customs to be payed (I live in Canada) so I'm definetly gonna give it a go when it gets a bit warmer. Check his site for parts here.www.fenderworld.com
