An EX header will not fit an LX. The LX header is practicaly a shorty header with the cat right on it. The EX header flows into a downpipe that then connects to the cat which is under the car, in between the midsection and exhaust.

An Ex head will fit on a LX block. Theres no difference between blocks on the models just the heads. With the head you will have to have get the vtec harness.

Yeah, the VTEC won't work without the ECU and harness. Although you could buy something like a V-AFC or a Greddy E-Manage and control the VTEC engagement that way (I think?).
