I just joined this site recently, so I am not sure how it really works.
I just bought a 2003 DX (5 speed manual) but it has NO TACHOMETER!
Is it possible to replace the speedometer screen thing that I have now with one that includes a tach and, if so, where can I find this new one? I have looked at ebay and modacar.com but can't find anything yet. Maybe I just need to know the part number for a different 7th gen model and I could maybe order it from Honda directly? I don't know?!?!? Please help me.
Thanks a lot...

Rep Power: 0 hey sup, well im not 100% about the tachs but maybe someone in my club does. xclusive imports is our club and were out of tampa area. gimme a call (# in my member page if you click below on the ride) you can join us on the 15th at the honda land meet and there you can ask some people the easiest way to get atch. (my guess is get heads up display, or just get a lx cluster but there like 500$)

Rep Power: 345 Um, didn't you notice this when you test-drove the car? Anyhoo, now you have an excuse to get an aftermarket tach on your front pillar, no?

Rep Power: 0 Hey thanks a lot man....I appreciate your immediate response. Thanks for the invite...I'll call you later on today probably. I'm not a car person but I am interested in learning and I plan to make mine a bit better than it is right now.

Rep Power: 0 Dude, of course I knew the car didn't have a tach when I bought it! I'm not a dumbass! However, I have shitty credit and had to take what the dealer and lender would give me. I needed a new car immediately and Hondas are excellent, so I took the base model, which was the best I could get at the time. That's why I'm in here because I need to make it better.
I don't want an "attached" tach...I want to change the screen that I have that shows the speedometer, gas, etc. (is there a term for this thing?) into one which includes a tach. Do you know where I can get this and approximately how much it may cost me?
Thanks

Rep Power: 0 The DX does not come with a tach. I have a DX too and I just bought a lx cluster gauge from a salvage yard. Only the LX and EX have tachs. If you are going to get a tach I suggest you get an LX b/c they don't have an ABS light so it won't light up seeing as how we dont' have ABS either. YOu can search ebay under civic clusters or go here. The mileage stays with the cluster so I also suggest getting one that has higher mileage and waiting till you hit that mileage then change it. That's what i'm doing. My new cluster has 12500 miles on it but my car has 11000. So another 1500 miles and I'll get to install it.
It'll cost you from $70-$150 depending on what kind of deal you find. I bought mine for $100. Its somewhat hard to find so I jumped on it as soon as I found an LX cluster with nearly as many miles as my car now.

Rep Power: 0 I would be carefull about throwing a different cluster in your car. That is illegal and you can get in trouble for it down the road. I would just be safe and get an aftermarket monster tach. They look dope as hell and the RPM's are higher (but its not like our Civics get to 10 anyway).

Rep Power: 0 Uhh its not illegal. Atleast from where I'm from. Plenty of people do it. Its not like their going to throw you in jail or even fine you. There are clusters for sale everywhere. If it were illegal than why are people able to sell them? If Honda were going to change my cluster they would just put a sticker on the inside of the door denoting what the mileage difference. In my case however I am going to change it at the exact mileage of my new cluster. So I'm not going to lie about my mileage. I seriously doubt you would get in trouble for changing your cluster, even if it were illegal. Just like ripping tag off you mattress.

Rep Power: 0 Hey Tim3 thanks a lot....I think I will take your advice and search for a cluster from an LX or something...I'm going to see if anyone in Tampa has one, then I'll look elsewhere. Please let me know if you hear of another one available....cya.

Rep Power: 0 No problem. Try to search everywhere. I found mine from the website I linked you too and they are located N. Carolina. Its called Robbin's Auto Parts. They just shipped it to me. They have an lx right now with only 4k miles on it but I'm not sure if its for an auto or manual? You might want to try and call them.

Rep Power: 0 From what I've seen the aftermarket tachs cost just as much if not more than a cluster gauge (For a good one). Like a lot of guys here I don't like the huge tach sitting on my dash or A-pillar. To me its rice, my opinion of course.

Dude, I'm glad you told me that. I just went there and saw it. Now I'm going to call them. My car has only 1,800 miles on it, so I'd be good to get an instrument panel with 4,000 miles on it. Thanks again bro...

My friend has three gauges going up the sidebar of his windshield (on the driver side, of course) and it looks good - but he has a 3G Eclipse. I have a base model Civic. It wouldn't look that good in my car (right now) and I would only need one gauge, which would look stupid. Know what I mean? Besides, I work with for a law firm and can handle myself if I ran into some problem with switching the instrument panel in my car; however, I am sure that there would never be any such problem because it is legal to do so in the State of Florida.

Rep Power: 0 Ok let's say you want to put in that dash panel. Will you have to do all the wiring to get the tach and other stuff to work? I've had mine out and it's plugged in with two computer type plugs.

Rep Power: 0 I know nothing about cars, so I would have my friend do all of the wiring for me. He said he's done it many times before for people....
