AEM V2
In the new Sport Compact Car in the "Best of Show" section on page 173 it says that the AEM V2 gives a 96'-00' civic DX
an increase of 16.9hp and 14lb-ft of torque. I understand that our civics won't achieve these gains but even if we could
get half, this would be a good investment.

Just to let you know, a V1 AEM CAI is a gain of 8 HP, which is half that. I'm trying to find out how much HP you'll gain if you put that type of intake on our cars. If you get any info, put it in a thread or e-mail to me.

The V1 doesn't really give our cars that much hp. It more like 4-5hp, but if the V2 because of it's new design gives us 8-10hp than I think it's worth the the extra $75 over the V1

Hey guys... that huge pipe isn't going to make that much difference. The engine can't take in any more air than the throttle can let in, and the throttle isn't that big. Shoving a 4 inch pipe is a bit overboard. Me and my friend figured out that the engine can only use about 210 CFM of air... and the current ones have the potential to bring in over 400. So the only benefit of the larger pipe is the nozzle effect it creates when it reduces in diameter. The air will accelerate a little bit which may act like a very tiny supercharger, but I seriously doubt it will create double what the original AEM or an Injen will add.
From the article (sorry for spelling errors, I had to copy this from my magazine)
"...A Helmholtz resonator is a proven, time honored way of bounching intake pulses back down the intake for a mild super charging effect. AEM mamaged to create such a resonator with this concentric tube design and a few hundred dyno pulls. The result is absolutely ridiculous power gains for an intake, like 16.9 hp and 14lb-ft of torque on a 96-00 Civic DX."
Sounds interesting. I would like to know what they are capable of on our cars also. Oh, and has anyone heard anything good or bad about the A`PEXi power intake filter? I am referring to the filter element only.

I checked today on the V2 intake with the guy at my performance shop, the guy that he calls at AEM said they don't have any HP numbers for our cars yet because they don't want any other company trying to copy it or AEM is still trying to get the patent for it, something like that. But I also doubled checked the numbers for the regular AEM CAI and it gives about 8.7 HP gain and i think about 6 LB tourque.

It retails for over $350 but I've found a few places that will sell them for a little over $200. I think my gf going to buy me one for my bday in march. If no one has it by then I'll let you guys know how it performs.

Saw one in person the other day...its just a really large diameter tube...don't see how it could be too much better than the 1st design. Even if it is capable of getting more air into the engine, the engine itself can only take in so much air.
