Custom piping
Just wondering what some people payed for their custom "cat-back" piping for their exaust. trying to decide if its worth it or to jus go cat-back system from like OBX or somethin'.
I payed 100 for 2.25 custom mandrel bent stainless steel...Really nice work, if you look under the car you can barely see the piping, it is all tucked up nice underneth..
just make sure you get a resonator put in if you get a loud muffler.
My friend has a custome exhaust on his 2k1 civic and he doesnt have a resonator and it is too loud and it also looks crapy if you look under the car because its not mandrel bent
also it pops not back fires put makes a popping noise.

i went to Monroe Muffler and and Meineke. Meineke wanted 175 for crush bent piping. and when i asked about mandrel bent he laughed and said only factories have mendrel benders.
then i went to Monroe Muffler (*owned by the SPeedy Chain of auto shops) and they charge me 120 for crush bent. where is every getting REAL MANDREL bent piping from? all the normal muffler shops around here seem to only have a regular crush bender.

ya i asked around as well, it'll cost me about the same price to get a full cat-back compared to doing ss mandrel bent custom piping. si might as well go for the full cat-back systems. it's worth it imo.
Its a celebration bitches!

yea its going to cost you some money for mendrel bent, it goes for about 150-225 cutom without alot of bends... well i love my piping, its looks so smooth and the bends are perfect... look around... overhere in LA, i found a real good person in woodlandhills that does it.... he is a pro... the machine cost like 40g's.... and takes like 30 minutes to set up a certain diameter of piping to bend.(sorry spelling sucks)
look at my profile, at the bottom pic... you can see some of the piping done...

Crazy,
I had a sim. dilema a while back....but from the past few weeks, I can suggest this...I got shafted by my impatience and got a crush-bend custom system made for about 275 w/ muffler....Sounded like crap....Regardless, even if you can find it cheaper, it might be a 100 or so bucks...I would think that spending a couple hundred more and getting a name-brand, quality system from a reputable company might be a better bet...But it all depends on what your goals are for the car, and how long you plan on keeping it, etc etc... good luck dude...

Thanks for the opinions guys. still not real sure which way i'm gonna go I'm realy looking at the OBX type H cat-back but my cash flow kinda sucks right now, what i was thinking about doing is buying a muffler and then getting the piping done later if that is even possible. Basicly i am trying to have a nice show car that i can race on the weekends but from what i heard exaust on our cars isn't gonna help my 1?4 at all.
If you do a complete exhaust system it will help your 1/4 mile time significantly....I got the mandrel bent piping from Crow City Customs (Crow City Racing) it's in New Bedford MA. Crowspeed.com It took quite a while for it to get done, but well worth it. If you want a cat back, this is my .02
DONOT get crush bent custom piping you will regret it, and probably end up replacing it.
Save up and get:
Custom mandrel bent SS, WITH a resonator (or it will be rediculously loud and raspy) and a QUALITY muffler.
A manufactured cat back, if you cant find a mandrel bender.
If you couple the catback with full headers and a hi-flo cat you will get descent gains.
When i installed headers/hi flo cat i noticed a descent increase, but when i got the exhaust it just opened everything up, and showed some damn good improvement. I got the APEXi N1, w/o the silencer my car fell on it's face, it had no power. When i put the silencer in, i got the backpressure i needed and it pulls hard all the way through 5th. (by hard i mean harder than stock...well stock really didn't pull in 5th.)
That's my .02 hope it helps.
