house brands are gonna be cheaper than AEM, INJEN, etc.
CAI arent all that invovled...pipe with a filter at the end. its the CARB exempt sticker that jacks up the price on them

So house brands aren't carb legal?

I've got the K&N Cone Filter that I could swap out once I get the pipe, I just basically need the pipe. A buddy works at Advance Autoparts and somebody bought the FIPK and broke it trying to install it. He knew I wanted it but didn't have the money, so he let the guy return it. He called me and said, "I'm about to throw this thing in the dumpster if you wanna come and get it." Pipe was f*@ked... cracked at the mounting point.

I'm scared of the ebay pipes... too many stories on here about things not fitting right.

I bought my N1 style muffler from them. Won it on ebay, picked it up at their store...they are real.

As for the intake, that's generic

go with AEM or Injen.

haha, I know people sometimes get pretty heated when talking about these intakes. From everything I've found and opinions posted on here, my goal is to buy the FIPK Gen II from K&N. However... if I can use a generic or 'homemade' intake as a crutch until I get the real deal, I'm gonna do it. Tight budgets suck. Once I get an exhaust and wheels, then I'll go get the FIPK. Then who knows... maybe I can start on the real upgrades that will make a difference. Fuel management, spark control, hopefully someone will have a cam for us by then, maybe NOS...

hehe big dreams, small wallet

eh 75? I got mine for like 60 shipped off ebay.

there's plenty floating around on ebay. they're AEM replicas. doesn't come with the bracket for the lower pipe but if u're a bit mechanic able u can make it work easily.

just a pipe and a filter after all.

the brand name jacks up the prices. not the carb legal deal. carb process may be a bit hassle but I doubt it cost them that much time and money.

hehe, Cap, you seem to be a bit of an expert on 'knock-off' parts!

I don't suppose you've seen a FIPK rip-off around have you?

lol. I have a thin wallet... actually, I dont. I just want to get the same thing, for a better price. who wouldn't?? but like everyone I still buy on impulse too many times.

as for the FIPK, I wish... heh.

I'm thinking of grabbing one, and replicating it though.. basically just repliacte the pippings and heatshield, and contact K&N or its distrubutor about ordering a large quantity of filters...

but i dont have time for that right now...

i beg to differ a bit. Those brand names are "allowed" to jack up their prices BECAUSE they have that carb exempt on them. People who care about that stuff will pay for carb exempt if it means not being harassed by cops.
