OEM Leather Steering Wheel Cover

Can someone please post a pic of the OEM leather steering wheel cover from your own DIY installation? I have been trying to see what it looks like installed. Tankies...

Thanks for the pic. You like it? Is it worth the money and to go thru the hassle to install? In my observation, looks like the cover becomes "lumpy" around the spoke areas.

Yes they are lumpy around the spokes. Mostly in the back, but you can see a little in the front. I'm still happy with mine. Installation took a while though if it's your first time sewing. Like 2 hours.

Yeah, I'm probably going to go back and re-lace mine. I have to find the big strong wax-coated thread though. Boilermaker mentioned I get some at Wal-Mart, although mine didn't seem to have it. Overall I've been very happy with mine, really makes the wheel feel a lot better.

Is there a way to eliminate the lumps during installation??? Or is this the net result no matter what you do?

AFAIK, no. Maybe if you made everything real tight and aligned it properly. But believe you get used to it.

If you wet the leather where it goes around the spokes, and then make sure you really pull that cord tight, you can eliminate most of that. While the leather is wet you can mold it to the spoke area and it will srhink as it dries. I don't have pics, but I can say the leather looks good and adds some bulk to the wheel, making it very comfy to drive with. On mine I can also feel the grooves on the backside of the wheel just fine. Then I also got a black leather ebrake handle cover from a guo on ebay who makes them to your measurments. That looks good with the wheel and the OE black automatic trans shift handle.

Yes, you just have to pull really tight and get the cord through as many holes as possible. It took me about an hour to install mine, but I took my time and there are no lumps.

Not as hot as the plastic. In fact it doesn't seem to get as hot as the OE.
