Yes, you will have to cut your engine in half, put the header in place, weld the engine back together, and then bolt up the header!

I lie! The HP Racing header fits most models without modification. The only exception is the EX with 5-speed tranny. If you have a manual tranny EX, then you'll have to shave a little bit of metal off of an engine mount so that the header won't rub.

there was a thread saying that you actually don't have to cut, but unbolt the motor mount, raise the motor up a bit install the header in place then bolt back the mount.

Take it from me.....I've searched and read every freakin thread on this forum about that header.
One guy tried removing the mount and then putting it back in after the header, but he stated that he later had to shave the mount because the header was rubbing.

Please!!! Trust me................I have the EX 5-speed and the mount has to be shaved. The shop that did the install thought that they could just take the whole mount out and then put the header in and everything would be fine, well they are idiots and I had to shave the mount myself because it sounded like freakin' hell when you shift. This has been run into the ground too many times!!! The ex 5 spped has to be shaved, the lx models do not.
Actually, i pulled the mount and installed the header with no problem. It's not the mount that needs to be shaved it's the bracket the mount is held on with. You only need to shave a piece | | that big off, just so it doesn't rub. Once installed you will see the clearence issue, if you have a dremel you can grind it out in about 2 minutes. I used a hand hacksaw and it took me 10 minutes and all is fine, and the integrity of the mount was not diminished. I have posted the how to in the "DIY: finally a hp 4-1 header diy" or something like that. The writer of the DIY cut massive amounts of the mount off...there is no need for that.

the structural integrity is compromised. with higher displacement engines, the mount would snap because of the torque applied. but with our engines, it's ok. but i'm still not a fan of trimming down the mount bracket.
That was me that posted earlier about the redesign. I called HP Racing and they said that they have stopped production and any Header/Cat that you can get is the old style that people still have in stock. They will be coming out with a new one in Feb. or so. Same HP gains but EASY INSTALL!!!
