I've been saved plenty of times by my Cobra radar detector.

Here is one of my stories...........
There is this part in the higway down here that has big hills. I popped over the top of the first hill and my radar shot off then it got slow at the bottom dip. As I came up the second hill, the signal began growing stronger again.........so I slowed down and over the next hill was 2 cops waiting to get people.

PS.......detectors are also good for finding foor stores....

I have a cobra that has saved me a couple times....it kinda saved my life once.....it has this signal that picks up emergency vehicles and mine went off one day....so i slow down and all of a sudden a cop flys out in front of me onto the highway....probably would have plowed me if i didnt slow down.....i like my cobra VERY MUCH

You get what you pay for for the most part. I have the PAssport 9500 and wouldn't trade it for anything. Oh all cops don't have radar, or always have it on if they ahve it, thats why it didn't go off when you passed them. PLus cops now have instant on, which is a PITS b/c radar detectors are worthless then, unless the cop tried to tag someone aorund you and you ahppened to get the warning.

excuse me for being naive.....
but i thought a radar detector blocks the signal feedback when the
cops shoot a radar gun at you.....the radar detector beeps when
being shot at and then it blocks the signal coming from the cop

so if the cop doesn't get on feedback on his gun.....wouldn't he just
pull you over becuz he's suspicious?

I've got a Whistler 1665 and it works well. I've got it because I got a ticket a couple weeks ago. I don't speed all the time but I have it because it gives me that extra sense of security, plus it lets me know who's looking out for me. Also when I was at a drive thru ATM it was going off like crazy.

If you're going to drive fast, there are several things you need to know and you have to stay alert all the time. There are situations where a radar detector won't help you. You just have to know what they are. I can't count the number of times the Passport has saved me from a ticket. It's also fun sometimes to bait some other driver into speeding when you know there is radar nearby.

Your thinking of radar jammers they are illegal in most states but they aren't here Yeah if you have a cheap POS under 100.00 you will get screwed over. But you can't drive super fast when no one is around its better to still stick with some cars around ya since sometimes they aren't always on. I bought the Bel 980 for over $300+ and all my buds have it and still no tickets for any of them. Rated #1 in 2000 and you get free updates as long as you send in your registration card.

Yeah I don't always speed but I still like to know where they are hiding

Nick

Rember, speed cops are like snakes. If you see one, there's liable to be another one around somewhere close.

Just to show what idiots some drivers are, I once went across I70 from Wheeling to Columbus on July 4 weekend. There was a cop at least every mile or two. It was obvious these guys were out there in force. But, believe it or not, half those cops had customers. Go figger.

Yep, them Ohio State Patrol guys are some of the worst. Truckers say Ohio is one of the toughest states on speeding.

By the way, if you travel a lot it really helps to have a CB. That way you hear the alerts and have a general idea where most cops are located before you get there. and you can back that up with your radar detector. You can get a good enough CB at Radio Shack for about $50.00

Look, just a bit of advise from lots of money wasting experiences with radar detectors. Ive had 2 whistlers, 1 cobra in which I recieved 2 tickets, 1 bel, and now I have the Valentine one. I would recomend saving your money until you can afford a top end radar detector, as far as im concerned I would only spend my money on the top of the line bel, escort, or spend the money and get the V1. Not a single ticket yet with the Valentine(knock on wood)
