Just installed Kamikaze
Installed it yesterday. Oh man, it kicks ***. The car feels like it runs so much smoother and quicker. Install was a breeze: I pulled the stock manifold/cat out with no problems, easily lengthened the wires for the second oxygen sensor, and popped the new manifold right on. I've driven about 40 or 50 miles since installing it and my check engine light hasn't come on yet. Is this normal? How long did it take for other people's check engine light to come on? O2 sim is in the mail. The only problem is CA emissions. I'll have to throw the stock setup back on to get smogged. I definately recommend this product to everyone.

There are a couple posts on this site saying that the ecu will make your car run lean if the check engine light comes on. I don't know if this is true or not. It's supposed to be some sort of "safe mode".

I don't really remember right now, but does the Kamikaze come with a new high flow cat?
The reason why HP's get the check engine light is because the "high flow cat" isn't doing its job of cleaning the fumes as well as it was stock. If you take a look at the stock cat, you'll notice how RESTRICTIVE it is....taking a look at the HP high flow cat, you'll notice that you can see right through it

The Kamikaze manifold replaces the LX stock manifold which has the cat welded to it. So, no, the kamikaze one has no cat at all.
My car no longer has a catalytic converter at all.

Is it street legal? and do you have to cut the engine mount like on the HP to get it in?
I know that you can jack up the engine and get the HP on without cutting but if I have to do that then I'm gonna take it to a shop.

You guys throwing a header on a 108 HP 1.7? Whew! I have the same engine and that seems like you'll have a ton of money into a 130 HP engine when you're done with all the bolt-on mods....how much did you spend on the header? I hope you understand me asking, I did the same thing on my new 91 CRX si back in the day and never was happy until I got a B18 in it...then I crashed it...ain't that a bitch?? I would spend the money on suspension gear until they have something that will give a big power gain for the money because even 160 HP only gives you 15.8 quarter miles times on the Si's...
I'm curious as to whether the RSX engine is going to fit in our cars....anyone know if the K20 plant is supposed to fit?

I know what you're saying, suspension mods are what I did first. I was going to save all my money for a "real" power adder like a turbo or a new motor, but I'm just not patient enough to wait. This is just a way to suppress my appetite.
I heard something about hasport planning to try and fit a B18 into a 7thGen civic. That is what I really want.
Oh, and Htown already has an RSX type S motor in his civic.

i have a LX, if i was to buy the Kamikaze header will it fit my exhaust or do i have to go with a EX setup or will it bolt up to any model exhaust without any mods to the car
i planned on going with HP because then i could buy the APEXi N1 cat-back (because there is not that many cat-backs for the LX)
also where would be the best place to order from or who has the best price
thanks

According to the Kamekazi site they have a header for the LX. I think it eliminates the cat. They also have an adapter so you can bolt up to stock exhaust or use a 2 1/4" catback without the adapter. I think the loss of cat is why you may need the O2 synthesizer to keep your ECU from turning on the check engine light.

I have an LX and the Kamikaze header fit my stock exhaust almost perfectly. The only problem is that the outlet of the header is bigger than the stock exhaust. All you need is a 2 inch ID gasket that is tapered on the outside at 1 end. Any autoparts/ muffler shop should have one for like $7.
Oh and I had to get 2 new nuts for the stock bolts that connect the exhaust manifold to the exhaust. The stock nuts are welded to the stock manifold.
