Ok we finally had some dry weather and I got a chance to do horsepower measurements with the GTech Pro. This is basically a g force acellerometer. To get horsepower, you dial in the car weight and do some wide open runs. The force is measured and calculated to HP using the weight factor. I used a weight of 2900 lbs to include drive, junk in the trunk, and almost full tank of gas. Whatever the case when comparing the HP with the Venom 400 on and with it off, I used the same weight factor and same road, etc so the numbers should be relative.

With the Venom turned off 3 runs = 90 HP.

Wigh the Venom turned on 3 runs = 95 HP.

These are not abslute dyno numbers, but they are numbers that can be compared to each other. I have automatic and it appears the best numbers come at the top of second gear, right before it shifts to third.

Based on these numbers, and the .1 second improvement in 1/4 mile time I have to say that the Venom 400 is improving performane in the area where is is supposed to work, that is in the half to full throttle power range. For me, that's where it's at, since acceleration is where you need some extra power. I'm happy with it. If you need something more, then you need something more.

for a fraction of a second on 1/4 mile times... that is 100% useless to my needs. if i see some HP increases, then i might consider it, but regardless, this product doesnt seem efficient for $300-$400 NEW. the $200 from IDQCIVIC dont sound too bad, but still would want to see some results before even consider that purchase. for $200, i could prolly spend my money better else where anyways...[hr]

One thing you gotta remember, if you don't change gearing or anything else on your engine or power train, then the only thing that's going to shave that .1 second is the ability to develop more power.

Yeah. Heck $200 is a good deal. Sure beats some other stuff you could spend it on and not see any improvement. Only problem is, unlike an intake or exhaust, it doesn't make noise.

Well cap, I'm happy with it and what it does, for the money and ease of installation. I'd venture to say it does as much or more than a catback for less money. Besides, I always had back luck with aftermarket exhausts.

To answer those who claim poor mileage, I ran all my tests, about 8 quarter mile runs and 8 HP runs and a few just for kicks full throttle runs and then drove normally on the rest of that same tank of gas. For that total 300 miles, got 32.6 MPG which is close to my normal every day mileage. So I don't think the Venom is making the car use any more gas than it does without the venom.

Here's some pics of the Venom 400 installation. I put it between the battery and the fender, ran the cable inside the fender lip. The TB pic shows the connections to the MAP and TPS sensors.
