Let's make a list of parts that DON'T add performance

Since Let's make a list of parts that add performance turned into a pissing contest, let's try the opposite.

If you've done a mod that was supposed to increase performance (acceleration, handling, etc.) but really didn't, or even took away, list the part here so no one else buys it.

Example: "I bought XXX intake and I lost 5hp!"

Go for it.

You guys are crazy. There's already been a list made. Go to www.7thGenCivic.com and at the top, there will be a link that says "Parts." Click on this link and... voila... a list of parts that don't add performance to our cars.

I was being serious when I started it, so people would have a list of stuff to avoid. Nothing's worse than buying something and having it suck.

You forgot of course, the demographic of the users of this site: Kids. If they ain't kids a lot of them sure act like they are. I agree, there should be a serious list. But people in their whimsical child-like ways will say stuff like stickers, or my mommy next to me.

Pretty much nothing really adds a substantial amount of improvement at this point. Exhaust gives like 2 hp (if any at all), so its negligable (more obnoxious when you have a big hole that makes more noise but does almost nothing). Intakes do nothing, headers might help a bit. Cam gears might help performance. Body kits and spoilers are just extra weight.

You guys just can't wait..wait alittle i bet things are coming out....it took awhile for a supercharger for the 98 v6 accord to come out..so what makes u think its easy to just release parts out for our civic considering the fact that the ULEV thing is always around...and in doin soo just messin with the system can trigger the engine light to be always on....Yes i agree that our civic sucks ...but oh well .....work at it..

I have to say - and I can PROVE IT:

Magnaflow Catback + AEM CAI DOES improve performance.

My fastest time before these mods was 17.010 in the quarter.
WITH mods, it's now at 16.600

Not much, but it IS a noticeable gain.

As for parts that DON'T improve performance:

*ANY short ram intake
*Those god-aweful aluminum spoilers people put on their trunks. These actually decrease handling and increase weight.
*Any bumpers/skirts/body kits/big aluminum wheels - all add weight and reduce performance
*Those dumb-*** electric superchargers on e-bay. They restrict air-flow and yes, they decrease performance.
