Does anyone have a Random Technology cat installed?

I found a few posts but they don't give me any user feedback. I'm interested in buying this piece but wanted to know what others thought about it.

My research has provided the following information:

-Same configuration as OEM pipe/cat piece (i.e. proper bends/angles,fitment)
-True bolt-on (has the upper mating flange(2 holes) and the rear mating flange(3 holes)
-NO WELDING!
-Stainless steel construction
-Cat has necessary piping welded to it in order to mate with EX header. Also has the properly place hanger and both O2 bungs.
-Does not throw CEL's
-2.5" inlet with a 2" outlet
-small body rectangular box shape (supposedly does not cause any interference with OEM heat shielding)(i.e. rattling, etc.)
-$298 MSRP

WEBSITE: www.randomtechnology.com

Any additional information from those who have this piece would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

TJ

I will probably end up getting it but just wanted see if I couldn't get a few opinions on it first.

The price is directly from Random Technology and is full retail. However, I found it for $270 shipped.

I think you will pass emission, but in some states your car has to have certain miles before you can replace your cat.

It's not like I'm going to call up the Dept. of Transportation or Licensing and tell them I'm getting a high flow cat.

What they don't know won't hurt em!

I know this isn't quite the same subject(no flaming please), but... would this mod be "useable" with a turbo-kit? Specifically, would this piece be able to withstand the heat of a turbo and what about capatability. That goes for any other high flow cat. converters. Thanks for any helpful input in advance. Brian C.

since this an exact replica of the stock downpipe/cat, this will probably bolt-on w/ the turbo manifold. so yes it would most likely withstand the heat from the manifold. i hope that helps

CapYoda has a spectacular aura aboutCapYoda has a spectacular aura about
even non MSRP price will be pretty expensive... because this is an actual working catlytic convertor.. not some straight pipe labeled as a "high flow cat"

do u have any idea how much catalyic cost? the stock ones runs for 700-800 bucks.

What about accredited testing on a dyno? I mean, for $300US how much performance are you getting out of this thing?

If it's still going to pass emissions it's probably < 5hp.

If you REALLY want to improve performance replace your cat with a straight pipe! less than $50 and no restrictions. But you'd most likely get busted - exhaust that isn't passed through a cat has a certain smell. Think 1969 camaro or lawnmower!

Call up Lightning Motorsports and ask for Derek. It was something like $256 plus shipping (approx. $24)
