projector heads that keep blowing
i installed a set of projectors and i keep blowing bulbs.....i know im not touching the glass but they keep blowing....anyone have any suggestions. Its beginning to become a pain in my **** considering i have to take the front bumper off to change bulbs
What headlights are they and what bulbs are u using? I have the black matrix/hyper ones and had th e same problem -they used to blow the H-3 like once a month . not cool when theyre 40 a pair... Turns out THAT .... i was using 55w , which your supposed to. HOWEVER... i read between the lines like the forth pair i had bought.(different brands each time).. i was buying 55w that acted like a 80w.... forsome r e a s o n i think that they are overheating and blowing. i dont know. what i do know is that you gotta find the right set of bulbs that are quality bulbs. they might cost a lil more but will be good in the long run.

projectors are not reallt design to use fake hids, since the fake hid releases A LOT of heat(more than oem and regular halogen bulbs) and projector gives it such a confind area, they tend to over head and blow, i would recommend getting regular halogen bulbs, but if you want the white look, then stop being cheap and buy true hid, at 40 dollars a pir of fake hid, you would've got a set of true hid, after blowing those crappy bulbs 12 times (HID are 500 dollars a set at groupbuycenter)

ive used like three different kinds.......some 55w super blue crap and 100w regular white and 55w reg white.....im to the point where im going to rip the damn things out and modify to accept an h4-9003 bulb and use the high beam as decoration.....any insight on that?
I have the same problem.. I have the black projectors, not the TYC ones.. I swear always the left one goes out first after 3-4 weeks, then two weeks later the right one goes out. It is making me crazy, I am about to get rid of them if someone will sell me a set of cleared stock headlights..
Luckily though for my bulbs the first set was 80 dollars with a warrantee, and then after that I can exchange them at no cost whenever they go out.. and I've done that like 6 times already (I can't imagine how much that is costing them).
I had the same type of bulbs in my stock headlights and they never went out, and my friend has them in his integra for almost a year and have never gone out.. *sigh* must be the projectors

bo0st, on the back of the projector housing....there are philips screws that look like they are holding a cover on the back but they are actually the adjusting screws. its a major pain in the *** thow cuz i got to drop the bumper and pull the light housing to get to the screw.
My opinion of most of those "super" aftermarket bulbs is that they are crummy. Try a set of Sylfania Cool Blues. They meet OEM specs and make a nice blue white light. Only about $10 to 12 each and they will last. They are made in most of the OEM sizes. You can get them at mosr regular parts stores like Advance Auto Parts, etc.
Cool, California..
But you probably don't know where that is, so I'll just say sacramento, that's where I'm at most of the time anyhow
I'd be willing to purchase them from you. I have my own stock ones still, but I want to keep them the way they are.
