IDQcivic should not be trusted
I searched the manual one time and it said nothing about a fuel filter. I could be wrong but I dont think our cars use a fuel filter due to the returnless fuel system we have... Later

It's in the tank.

Edit: Wait...I seem to remember reading that there is an external filter also...somewhere under the rear driver's side I think... I have to look that up again.

I'm nearly positive there is an external filter.....who knows tho...???

When I was doing the DIY spare move I thought I saw what was the gas tank and what looked to be a filter in line with it...I could be wrong...but that's what I thought I saw...

Anyone who knows more...please share!

Dunno about these cars, but all my other cars recommended 10K interval for fuel filters. I can't see why it would be any different...now that I think about it...I should probably swap mine out.

Yep your right. I just tock the bottom of my seat off and there is a panel right there. You remove four screws and you will the the top of the tank. I think I would try to releave the fuel pressure somewere else first. I don't think I anyone would want fuel spayed on the inside of there car.

the fuel filter on our cars are not service able the filter is part of the fuel pump in the tank I know this because I replaced a couple of pumps at work and you need specail tool to remove the pump assembly so I don't recommend replacing it unless you have technical skills

Ok, I'm confused. So what happens when you pour something like Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner in? I heard those cleaners loosen deposits from the valves and injectors, and I've heard people saying that these loosened deposits can clog a fuel filter. But if the filter is in the tank and the system is returnless where do the loosened deposits go? It would seem better if they go into the filter... that way you can just replace the filter. Now I don't know where they end up. Sorry for all the hear-say. I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about.

Internal engine deposits couldn't go back into the tank, even if it did have a return. Deposits removed by a cleaning agent burn up and go out the exhaust pipe.

What might clog a filter would be dirt, debris particles in the gasoline itself, and especially if you let your tank run dry or almost dry, they will get picked up from the bottom of the tank. One good reason not to run out of gas.

I was just at the dealership buying an air filter. I asked about replacing the fuel filter and I was told the fuel filter that's in my car (2001 EX) is for life: not intended to be replaced.
