Someone suggested the possibility of rerouting the A/C through the intake to bring in colder air. Would this deliver more gains than it would take (ie. would it offset the amount of hp that the a/c draws while running?)

I thought it was an interesting idea. Besides it'd be cool to go "hey, watch me turn on my a/c and go faster." Haha.

Or would you just get better gains by removing the a/c all together? How much does it weigh?

Note that I'm not likely to do either, I'm just wondering.

you'd loose by rerouting the ac into the coldair intake. it take to mcuh power to run the air conditioner. also most intake tubes will become hot as the engine temp increases. so it will start of colder, but by the time the air reaches the throttle body it would be hotter. it's not worth the fuss.

if you remove the ac youd go faster, not much though. les wieght = faster than more weight

ac doesn't weight that much. if you want to go faster, reduce the amount of rotational weight. lighten your crank, flywheel, pistons, rods, underdrive pulleys, wheels and tires. don't be stupid and remove ac or your backseat. remember, removing 1lbs of rotational weight is equal to removing 5lbs from the weight of the car.

I heard that the air goes through the tube so fast that the temperature of the tube doesn't really matter. Some company did a test on it with a plastic intake vs. a metal one and the temperature of the air inside was less than 1 degree difference. I forgot the company tho, but I read it on some website for some aftermarket product. I wish I had book marked it. Oh well.
