sedan and coupe headlamps not the same?

Hey guys,

I remember reading somewhere on this forum (dont remember where & cant find it with search), that sedan headlamps and coupe headlamps are NOT interchangable. They look the same from the outside, but somekind of connector is different. Can anyone confirm or disprove this? Are they interchangeable or not?

From what Im told the two are identical. The sedan & coupe headlight unit have the same part number when you order them from Honda so Im fairly confident they are identical

That is correct, somewhat. They do appear identical on the outside. The sedan's sealant is a dark grey, not black like the coupe, and is a LOT tougher to break. The connector for the coupe will not fit a sedan headlamp w/out modification.

thanx vizyun. so according to you they are not interchangable (without modifications)

altho with what macker said - this doesnt make any sense.

how could it be the same part number, but have different connectors?

When you purchase the headlamp you are just getting the basic unit with no bulbs or wiring loom. The lamp for the coupe & sedan are the same the only difference is the connectors on the wiring loom. I think this is why the part numbers are the same

The sedan and coupes headlights are not the same and they do not have the same part number #368551 sedan lights and #374546 coupe. the diference is the deflector shield inside the parabolic reflector. The coupes deflector sheild is "closed" type giving less glare off the high beam reflector and the sedans deflector is partially open at the bottom giving a slightly different light pattern. difference is that sedan headlights have tougher sealant and 11 black clips holding casing to clear plastic, coupes have only 5 clips and different sealnt which makes it easier to clear as well... i hte clearing sedan headlights they suck.

Sorry for the mis information Showoff. The european 7th gen have the exact same headlight for both coupe & sedan. The American one must be different.

umm, I bought Derek's old OEM headlights off his coupe. They fit my sedan just fine. No connector incompatibility at all. I'm not sure if Derek changed anything on the connectors before I got 'em, but they just plugged right in.

I didn't compare my OEM headlights with Derek's, so I can't really say right now that the reflectors are different as showoff posted. Maybe I'll have to dig my OEM sedan lights out and take a look. Anyways, D's headlights light up the road, are cleared, and the strobes work; and that's pretty much all I care about.
