Grant Vehicle Security System

Does anyone have this installed, or know if it works with 2k2s? I'm more worried about my car getting completely jacked than someone breaking into it, and this system seems credible. I want to know if this system is a waste of money, etc. I saw it @ autosupermart.com for $121.99, and a local shop said they'd get it for $113.

For some reason they said it was "illegal" for them to install the system cause I have an airbag, but that it was ok for me to do it myself. That makes me wonder if Honda is gonna try to say something is voided on my warranty....Any advice is very much appreciated.

Yeah...I don't think it would be legal either way, as it would require the removal of the air bag and the use of one of their steering wheels.

The guy @ the local shop said that it isn't illegal to drive a car w/o an airbag, but after looking at the grant website, they say "not to be used" w/cars that have airbags.

Also, it looks like you only have the choice of three wheel styles, and not including the formula 1 d-shaped wheel that I want.

Still, if it's compatible w/the 7th gen, it might be a better theft detterent than a conventional security system, like the website says, "no wheel, no steal"

Yeah, they (Grant) just need to devise a system that would allow the use of either the stock wheel or an aftermarket airbag wheel. That would be $$expensive$$...prolly why it hasn't happened.

But is it possible to disengage the airbag & remove it, so as to use a Grant wheel? That's what I was wondering...

Well, sure it is...but you cannot use it with the Grant wheels, so we're back to it being illegal to take it permanently off the car.

If you ask me, I really don't think it's fair to have a law that MANDATES an airbag..but alas, it is the law.

It's not illegal, you just have to tell your insurance company, or it is illegal, and I've got a good feeling they'll wanna raise your insurance.
