Theses are the steps I'm taking in modding my car. I'll list the reasons along with the order for doing so.
#1 - CD Player - You obviously need your own tunes when driving around.
#2 - Suspension - This mod would come before wheels because they look a lot different once your car is lowered.
#3 - Wheels - Now you know how your car handles. Next step is figuring what your going to do with your car. Drag, Autocross, or just normal every day driving. Now you buy your wheels with respect to size accordingly.
#4 - Body Kit - Your car is lowered, you've got wheels, now you want the kit that's going to look nicest with your current configuration.
#5 - Nitrous - Our engines are weak. You need power wherever you can get it from. Unfortunately there aren't any forced induction options for our cars yet ( unless you get it custom ) so, this is the best bet until they come out.
#6 - Headers, CAI, Exhaust - You're not going to see a great deal of performance increase in these mods without some sort of forced induction, but now you're set up for when one is released for our cars.
#7 - Pulleys & Cam Gears - This is the route you're taking now, you've got to get power anywhere you can.
#8 - Turbo/Supercharger - You've got your airflow set up, now you can force your induction.
#9 - Electronics - Get your credit card and spend all the money you can on electronic equipment (preferably from APEX-i) to tweak your turbo/SC.
#10 - Extra Hardware - For the turbo/SC, tweak it, tweak it.
I hope this helps some. I know it's hard to decide what to do next to your car, but you don't want to be all over the place with mods. Follow a path.

I had a 7th gen, 2k1 civic ex white...i sold it and bought this 97 because i like the body style better...plus i dont feel as bad ripping it apart..heh.
Thanks for everyone's response...and not hating too much that im a lonely 6th gener, just love these boards
I think im going to go the route of body kit first..skip the cf hood, and instead get my door handles and antenna shaved off.

I think the best mods for a slow car like a civic is suspension. It's fun to tool around the back roads, and getting it to go fast in a straight line is absurdly expensive. I have Neuspeed Sport Springs and Konis on my car. The day I got those installled driving was 100 times more fun.
hey there...
if u want some good advice...here u go! get that body kit... but make sure its really the one u want! second, i think CF hoods look SICK on 5th and 6th gen civics, especially the WHITE civics! so u got my blessin for the CF hood... thirdly, the other guy is right, those rims are sweet, but need to be either silver, or gunmetal or something else... just not white, it blends too much and draws attention away from the fact that u got aftermarket rims, and nice ones at that. as far as engine/performance go... it will come in time. i think its WAY BETTER to be rollin around in a sick @ss lookin ride rather than creepin around in a car that looks OK or crappy, but has a fast engine, because (1), ur gonna be flying by everyone too fast to see u, (2) u buy a turbo and ur gonna have to buy A LOT more stuff to get it up to decent running ability, as well as keeping it maintained. a turbo is a big investment that you should prolly think about doin last. i think an engine swap is more practical... B16A2 or B18C2/5 (GSR or TypeR). it'll run u a lil more than the turbo, but it will be a better platform to start with for power.
back to LOOKS.... i have shaved doors. not exactly the greatest mod i decided to do. it can be a real annoying aspect to my car when u dont have the patience to deal with popping the door, or better yet, when the battery dies....and worst case scenario, u lock ur keys in the car with the ignition on. trust me, it happens, no matter how many times you say it wont, IT WILL! i did it TWICE in the first week i had my car back from the body shop. id say if u want something different, get the LAMBORGHINI style doors that swing upwards. MUCH COOLER lookin!! g'luck bro!

Dont have any idea how to get the open up doors..hah...would be cool though.
I went with a CF Hood from www.importpartsplus.com for $361 and some hood pins...total of $15 shipping..place is cool as hell, they ship by weight.
Then a full Kaminari body kit from 1sickcivic...well he's sellin it for a friend, hopefully $600 shipped is a good deal.
I'll post pics when its done!

Gettting your doors to open up like that is actually quite easy. You just use those mini shocks ( like ones that hold up the hoods on some cars ). I don't think they'll look good on our cars. They only look good on cars that don't have any metal OVER the door outlining the window.
