Kinda funny how you guys think the HKS prototype is an LX when in this engine shot pic i got from Purehonda a while back has a VTEC wire cover on it They musta swapped out wire covers so they can fit in with the ricers

i don't even know why people started debating this shiat.... it's pointless... the EX/Si's have more, because they cost more! it's that simple..... I'm sure there are some people who feel the extra features (and the little bit of extra power) aren't worth the extra money, and that's fine.... to each his own.... it's fine if we gang up on other rides 'cause our's ARE the best! but come on we don't need to start dissin' each other! stick together people! btw, my Si (EX) rocks! hahaha.....

Good point. That's exactly why I think my LX is the best bang for the buck. To be precise... $13,695

I am 6'8"...the Seattle boys have met me, so they know.....

The freaking sunroof actually gives me less headroom. I have to drive my car essay style. As for the "sunroof=more weight" stupid n00b argument....

Lets just say that the EX trim on the car will get me a higher resale value. I am a firm believer in maxing out the options on a vehicle, especially if your going to be making payments on the dang thing for five years. Seriously? Why pay 450 dollars a month on a vehicle that lacks power everything, a sunroof, a cd player, and all the little extras. In the end, the difference in payments between an LX and an EX are not too huge. When I priced them out, the difference was 35 bucks a month in the financing scheme of things. If you can't afford an extra 35 a month, your cutting things WAY too close on your budget anyways.

We can chat about turbo this and turbo that all day long. We can even argue about the ex being better than the lx. In the end though, does it really make a difference?

I got the EX because I wanted the 15" wheels, Vtec, and power equipment. I didn't really want a sun roof, but that was the only way to get all that other stuff. Besides, I got it at the end of the model year sale and paid ca$h. No payments, no interest, and a good price.

As far as turbo's go, I think whoever comes out with a kit, it's still going to be a rather complicated install and probably tuning. I don't think it's going to be the cure all or the installation for the average Joe Sixpack that some might think.

Had I wanted more power, less economy, and more goodies, I would have just sprung for the RSX.

anyways.. my argument is based on the fact that the added weight COMBINED between A/C and a sunroof negates alot of the power you just bought. this was more about vtec than anything and the fact that vtec is NOT doing all that much for a D series engine. i dun care why you bought it or who bought it and for what reason. i'm just pointing out a simple fact.

as for calling me a n00b.. umm.. like really.. get out of your shell and see the world. you're not l33t and i'm no n00b.

i cannot see why this has become such a big problem anyway. if the turbo works on a ex, it won't take much to work on an lx and vice-versa. in the end, it's the same friggin engine!

Man, your talking about how much weight a sunroof adds on a economy car..........think about it..............

Last time I checked, the civic was designed to be reliable, and be easy on the pocket book. Here you are talking about weight....like this vehicle is meant to go fast. Really....35 bucks a month man for some extras. So ya, Im going just as fast as you are, except i have more goodies on my car.

Curb Weight
LX EX
2474/2507 2555/2595

Hmm, maybe I should lose some muscle mass and drop down to 255 instead of staying at 300 so I can race my civic. That might balance out having a sunroof and air conditioner. Wait! What happens if I want to race a guy who weighs 150 pounds? UH OH......

Really, the weight/power ratio argument could be made anywhere, and using that as an LX/EX argument is lame.

You get the f$!@#$ out of your shell son...your the one talking about weight management on a econo car. You know I still love you though.

arguing about sunroof weights and superiority of LX vs. EX engines. damn people, we all have the same problems of extracting power from our tiny engines whether its vtec (notice there's no h at the end biggs) or non-vtec. just everybody cross their fingers for HKS to hook us up

no harm done.. just pointing out a fact.. wasn't an argument as to which is better. you can take the information and use it however you may want. all i'm suggesting is that vtec isn't doing that much for the civic. nothing more, nothing less than that. cool? haha
