Why are Konig wheels relatively inexpensive? Are the cheaply made? Any one had any good/bad experiences with them?

Rep Power: 560 They are not cheaply made, ive got them they ride smooth and everything, i think its a matter of supply and demand on them that make the price go down.

Rep Power: 0 Basically, all the relatively cheap wheels are made by the casting method. That means molten hot, liquid metal is poured into a mold to make the wheel. The expensive light-weight wheels are made by the forging method. They take a solid piece of metal, or whatever the wheel is going to be made of, and essentially use tons of pressure to form the wheel. Cast wheels aren't bad per se, but forged wheels are stronger and lighter. Only thing is, forged wheels start at like 300 each. Take the volk TE37. In the 15x6.5 size it weighs 8.4lbs. 16x7, around 9lbs. There is a good article in one of the import tuner mags if you want to read up on this subject.

Rep Power: 0 UH, KONIGS ARE NOT AS GREAT AS YOU THINK.
konig rims are casted, not forged like Volk or other high quality brands.
i used to have konig monsoons, but they bent. so i went to konig
tantrums... they bent too... so i went with SSR-GT1 rims. THOSE rims are nice.
strong, and forged. konig's are cheap for a reason. if you want good rims, go with
forged rims, not casted. otherwise the rims will eventually bend on you. peace

Rep Power: 0 Cast wheels are fine. I wanted some nice forged rims for my sedan too. However, you have to wonder about people who have 2-3k rims on such an inexpensive car. It doesn't make much sense to me. As for the rims bending, what series tire were you running? Did you hit a pothole or what? Don't expect any rim not to bend with a low profile tire hitting any sort of adverse road condition. You do not want a low-profile tire if you have bad roads in your area.
