Does anyone not think that they are in a way like blackouts? Maybe it's just me in my old days.

yeah, they look like blackouts -- without the ugly plastic blackout that doesn't fit flush with the car

the only concern i have with the paint is this: it's permanent, right? and how bright are they? that's what i hated most about those blackouts... looked kinda cool till you realize the guy in front of you is braking cuz you can't see his damn lights

I have the identicle light mod on the way... I have purchased a paint that is for tinting lights and is meant for that purpose, I just need to find an extra set of rear tail lights for when the popo's pull me over!

I really like them though, I am glad I got to see them before I finish mine!

Mine's like that just not as dark. less chance of being pulled over. Normal tint spray will do it, just remember to clean your taillights thoroughly with some alcohol before spraying

They look pretty darn good. I would be worried about the cops though. People used to just use window tint on their tail lights. I didn't know they had spray stuff now.

the link that was posted earlier was broken (at least for me it was)
Fixed link

guys they actually have spray window tint.
I have a can of the stuff sitting in my garage.
It was about $2.99 (I think) at an auto parts store.
it isn't the nicest tint around, but I think that it would get the job done.
I was gonna try the tint on my back window, but I want to be able to remove it, incase it doesn't look good.
you can defenetly remove the stuff with a razor.
but Razor + Rear Defrost =
I was gonna try some other stuff to try and remove it (maybe paint thinner)

I think that Spary Tint would work out great for the rear tail lights and the front ones too, for that matter.
I'm gonna try to tint a piece of plastic (plexi glass) and then I'll try different stuff to remove it and I will let you guys know.

if anyone else wants to go ahead and try this, feel free, and keep us posted.

The funny thing about these is that since I saw this post yesterday, I noticed on the way to work today a non modded VW Jetta Wolfsburg Edition and the top half of the tail lights were smoked out. The funny thing is that the top half housed the parking lights and the turn signals. I am not sure if anyone else noticed this but I think I am going to investagate this some more.

Seems like the parking/break lights shine through pretty good, unless this pic was taked before he did it.

there is a guy around here that does that for any type of car. Its called a smoked lense. He can add as much or as little tint as the customer wants. He normally puts jsut enough so that oyu wont get in trouble with the cops. It is fully removable so if you do get in trouble, it wont be a problem to fix. He said that it takes him about a couple of hours to do. I can get it done for $50. Thats one of the things on my "to-do list".
