Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
First off, let me start by saying I am a total newb, and apologize if I missed this answer in my search. The only info I came up with is how to replace the window regulator. I have a 1999 Honda Civic DX and my drivers side window will not roll up all the way. They are manual windows and all it will do now is kinda knock as I turn it. I have pulled the window up myself and wedged some cardboard in to keep it up (which is only sorta working), and I'm trying to find out what part it is I need. It seems like a Regulator is what I need, but when I do a search to buy one all I get is results for power windows with motors. I would be very grateful if anyone could point me to the correct item and a good place to buy them. (luckily I have someone that will help with the install) Thanks.

I am a newb myself, so I will try to advise you the best I can. I have this same problem on my car (2000 Civic LX), but I have the power windows. I asked the dealership about this, and they told me I need to replace the run channel and the regulator. I doubt seriously, though, that the run channel needs to be replaced. The center lower channel and the front channel might need to be replaced, and definitely the regulator. You can buy the regulator from any Honda dealership.
Re: Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
Manual windows don't have a regulator. So, the problem is probably with either the window rotating handle or the track itself. Take it apart and have a look. It might be as easy of a solution as putting the window back in it's place.
Re: Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
Agree with the above advise. I would go by an autoparts shop. Look at the Haynes manual or buy one and they will have instructions on taking apart the door and looking at the internals. It is not that hard.
Re: Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
Of course manual windows have a regulator. It is not the same regulator as the one on the power window, but nonetheless, it is a regulator. If you do not believe me, it is on page 20-9 of the service manual. Also, I strongly recommend buying one through a Honda dealer. They will give you a good price, and it will be a genuine Honda factory part.

You can get it from this site: It's #2, but make sure you go through the selection process and select your car, thats for a 99 civic sedan, I'm not sure if it's the same on the coupe or not. I never realized that piece was called a regulator.. hmm.

I see you've switched to referring people to South Bay Honda instead of Majestic Honda..
Re: Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
That's because south bay honda is in my favorites... I never put majestic in my favorites for some reason
Easier to get on south bay now haha

Hahaha.. They do have better quality pictures. And I can now vouch for both. I got my hood moulding in and the only reason it took a while is because they had to contact one of their many warehouses to ship it out to me
Re: Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
Neither ship to Canada, and their prices are 1/2 of what I pay here... Its going to cost me 350 dollars in parts to replace rear drums and shoes. If I have to replace the drums, that is. I'll probably go aftermarket or do a rear conversion. Both those places kick *** and it's sad Canada has nothing to compete with it.

psh.. if you just need the drums, I'll send you my old ones. Just pay me $20 plus shipping... assuming shipping isnt stupid.
Re: Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
I'd love to, but I now have reason to mod the car and the wife can't say crap... if the brakes go out on me on the highway I'm dead... It's cheaper to convert (small lie) to disc than it is to replace the brakes... so wtf not?

Re: Where/what to purchase a Window Regulator?
i just did this on our 92 accord. rear window rolled down and heard a loud snap followed by plastic pieces falling in the door. cracked the whole cable holder (plastic). went around a bunch of stores and kragen had the regulator in stock. otherwise they can order it for you. $150 later and less than 30 mins i had functioning window again. yours will be cheaper since you have manual and only need the regulator assembly, not the motor. otherwise they always sell you the motor which is most of the cost. its super easy to change, just remove door panel, roll window down as much as possible or at least low enough to access the two bolts holding the window glass to the regulator, remove the two bolts while holding the window with your hand, then carefully push the window up all the way making sure it goes into the side channels, then once its upput some duct tape to hold it in place or have a friend do it, unbolt the regulator mechanism and pull it out thru the door hole, slip in the new one and bolt it up same way as the old one came out, carefully drop the window back down and reinstall the two bolts, careful not to overtighten and shatter the window. thats it, put the panel back on and test. just be very careful to make sure the window is sitting inside the left/right channels the way it should be!
ps. i would not recommend getting a used part because it will likely break very soon being so old. you want a new one because alot of pieces are plastic for some reason.
to the op-make sure its actually a regulator problem. any broken pieces at the bottom of the door? sometimes with manual windows, the cable(s) come loose from the holders and get stuck in the window path. sometimes all you have to do is tie the cable back to the door metal so it stays out of the way of moving parts. that seems to happen alot on manual windows.

You might need a run channel as well, since they are common to fail on that gen of civics, which is a dealer only part I think. Bascially the run channel has rubber in it and it snags the glass causing it to go off track.
I would check a local parts store and get the regulator pretty common and prob pretty cheap.
