D17 engines and stage 2
i read in the forums about people who had a D17 stage 2 option and they said it was like 3000 dollars or so to do but i cant find that thread anywhere. anybody know what it was?
you guys might want to check this company out before spending your money.. Gude might be the way to go.. but this guy helped with my integra LS.. this is an e-mail he sent in reply to some questions i had.
D17 Stage 2 Engine:
Pistons and balancing – 500.00
Crank Knife Edged Lightened and Balanced – 350.00
Stage 2 Cylinder Head: Port, Polish, Race Cut Valves, complete remanufactured head including seals – 800.00
Nitrided Stainless Valves w/ narrowed stems – 300.00
Reworked High Pressure Oil Pump – 100.00
Main Bearings and Rod Bearings – 400.00
Gaskets: Head, bottom end and misc. – 200.00
Assembly (including but not limited to beam polishing and shot penning of rods, timing belt and water pump)– 1075.00
Lightened and balanced flywheel – free!
Engine Development Total – $3725.00
This engine would build at least 50% gain over the stock.
The individual throttle bodies will cost alot. This would run at least 1000. We dont have exact figures on what kind of power gains these would bring, however we are quite sure it would make a significant difference. The easiest way to do this would be to run a Haltech or Motec engine management system as the probably carry these. You would run individual air filters for we could build an air box.
I am not sure who has rods for a stroker appliction. If nobody makes them they will have to be made.
Included is a loose estimate not including dyno tuning time.
If you could give us an estimate of how much you want to spend we can design a package to get the most power possible out of your money.
Thank you for your interest,

i talked to John again yesterday and i told him i was willing to spend 4 to 5 grand and he said he could put me at 250-260hp at the crank. not bad numbers when you compare the price and the results of a turbo. all motor is the way to go. and those sidedraft individual throttle bodies are sssuuuuuuuhhhhwwwweeett!!!!!
i own a shop here in Houston and we trade business back 'n forth when needed. and personally it just looks a lot better than what gude has to offer... if you don't have much to spend then i see how going with gude is a good idea.. after all his cams are nice. try their website... www.kms.com

Hahahahahaha, hahahahahaha, hahahahahahaha, you think your gonna get 250-260hp all motor from your D17A!!! hahahahaha, ahahahaha, you will be spending alot more that $4k buddy, it would probably be $2k just for dyno tuning such a experimental setup. Oh ya, and did I mention SOHC!!! hahaha!!! Sorry for laughing so much, but I hope this gives you motivation to prove me wrong and spend $10,000 on a $15000 car!! hahahaha!!

the reason they call it the si is bc that is there badging on there car u newbie. the si here in america is the sir in canada.
actually, no it's not carb legal at all... i know most people would call the laughing thing flaming.. if it's not possible, that's cool... doesn't really bother me all that much.. but enjoy the thread! hahaha. and, so ya know people laughed 10 years ago at a thought of a 12 second civic in the first place..
black2k1vtec, You've been here almost as long as I have. I'm surprised that you were so eager to flame the guy for getting info from someone else, I mean, no ones really done anything major to this engine yet, so how do we(you, me, anyone) know what it is capable of. and he if says he can get it done for 5,000 then hell, I believe him. thats all I have to say, later- joe
all i know is that the guy that runs the place has been in the game longer than me... he has a machine shop.. i'm just in the retail end.. this is the same guy that has put a nsx drivetrain in a crx. (it's on his website if you need proof!) anyway, i'm not bothered or affected in anyway by peoples responses on this site.. i'm just sharing info that i get.
