I recently bought a pedal set for one of my friends and it looked good out of the book but after receiving it, the mounting kit looks pretty ghetto.

I thought that there would be mounting brackets in the back along with some screws.

However, all this kit has is mounting clips that you fold back (kind of like the clips on office document envelope mailers) along with some doublesided tape.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of mounting kit, and does it hold up well? Also does/will it look ghetto? I bet it will. ugh.

i don't have that kit, but i think it will be alright, especially if that tape is made by 3m, then it shouldn't come off. if your still unsure of doing that, then why don't you fabricate some mounting brackets for them and drill some screw holes into the pedals. i think it would be a nice diy for the weekend

i used to have 3a pedals with that mount, took em off after a few days. they usually dont slip, but it looks very cheap and stupid. the more expensive pedals actually replace the old ones. and have clipons made it feel very weird to press on.

Should I just try to sell it or just toss it then? I spent $25 on it. They are pedal "covers." I dont think it's returnable since the guy said it was special order.

I got these for her since she picked me up to go to work two weeks a month for three months so I thought I'd give something back. I thought it would be nice/funny since she always has a lead foot when she shifts.

those look cool. you should just take off the stock rubber covers on the pedals and drill holes in the metal part, then screw on the new ones.

although i havent had those exact same pedals, i've had pedals that mount the same (3A brand like Gearbox said).

anyways, you'll notice that all the quality brand pedal sets are either replacements for the pedal itself, or drill into the pedal. the reason for this is because of safety. the clips that hold on the pedal are very flimsy, and the pedal realies heavily on the double sided tape to stay attached. over time, the pedals could come off posing a safety hazard.

if i were you, i'd just get rid of them. i wouldnt want your friend getting in a accident.

I had a problem like this. But mine mounted with screws, still a HUGE pain in the *** due to the angles and everything of pedals. I'd recommend the Mugen pedals. I have those and absolutely love them, they look great. Expensive, but I never looked around really. Idk, I hope if you keep those your situation works out..but I wouldn't go with just double sided tape + little fold overs..**** might fall off while driving

That was my biggest fear.

I thought so too! In the book they looked even nicer.

Maybe I can go over there one day (she's in PA) and help her install them by actually drilling into the pedal? There is a hole in the center there where a screw could potentially fit. I'd just have to find an awesome "performance" looking screw. hmmmm

So now the question is, should I mail it to her now or just go up there in like a month and hand deliver it and help install it with 3M tape that I used to mount my sideskirts with.... and possibly drill into the pedal?

well, if you drill into the pedal, you wouldnt need the double sided tape. i dont think it would hold too long anyways cuz pedals are always getting wet from when you step in water. drilling out holes and screwing them in would be a much better solution.

excatly what i did, i also bought some glue that is for metal from hardware store. now i can even remove it....it sticks so hard.

btw, since the curve on the OEM pedals and the aftermarket one is differnt, i only use 2 of the 4 screws to hold it.
