I bent a set of 16s on 50 series tires on a previous car. A pothole bent both the passenger side wheels. Anything lower than a 50 series and you will always be at risk for damage. The nice big wheels look great but they will get bent very easily.
I just ordered 18's with 35 series tires and just plan to take it easy! They will look so good and as long as your not driving over curbs and avoid huge potholes you should be OK.

GO WITH 18's!!!

I have had 17's for 4 years.........NEVER bent em..........
Ive had mine 18's for 9 months.........perfect......(not exactly.....1st day scrapped the curb a little)
you just cant drive like a dumbasss........dont go down a road w/ 8" deep potholes @ 60mph and not expect them to get bent..........of coarse they will
Its all about how drive your car.......
