Does anyone have door poppers?
Does anyone have fully shaved door handles with door poppers? If anyone does, is this a modification you can stand on a daily basis? Does it get annoying having to pop it open all the time? I already have a full Clifford security system on my car and want to keep it. Any suggestions? I was looking at autoloc's system.
Re: Does anyone have door poppers?
well i don't have experience with poppers on a vic but my friend has autoloc's kit on his s-10 and he loves em. i guess it's depending on how much you're in and out of your car and if it's your dd or just weekend/show car.
p.s. the solenoids for the poppers are awesome, you can kick the door pretty much open lol.

Re: Does anyone have door poppers?
I had them on my last car for over a year and never got sick of it.
One thing you have to keep in mind is Terminology.
There is a distinct difference between "solenoids" and "poppers"
I had my rear doors welded shut and a fully shaved exterior with Solenoids on the front doors and tail gate.
All solenoids do is "unlock" the internal locking mechanism, leaving your door slightly ajar and then you physically have to open it yourself (honestly not that big of a deal)
"Poppers" on the other hand are used in conjunction with solenoids. The popper is set on a very small delay to activate after the solenoid is activated..thus physcially popping/opening your door for you fully.
SOunds cool untill the first time you go to open your door and you aren't there to catch it and it gouges the m6 parked right next to you.

I don't really have to many pictures saved but this is as best as i can do.
You can see the solenoid to the right which is connected to the metal rod of the door's locking mechanism. When the remote on the keychain is triggered the solenoid magnetically contracts, thus pulling the rod and unlocking the door.

Re: Does anyone have door poppers?
Great thanks for the info. So I am assuming that I want just the solenoids, not the poppers. Because honestly I don't want my door flying open when I hit the button. Haha, because I'm sure what goes around comes around, if I dent someone, I'll get dented!
Re: Does anyone have door poppers?
Correct. The only thing you need to consider is physical limitations. The solenoids have to be mounted on the doors and are a decent size. I don't know if you will be able to tuck them away some where and keep an OEM look or have to modify the door panel in some manner.
Re: Does anyone have door poppers?
sorry to bring all this back up. but i want to do this to my car too. but i cant find any where on how to put them in or how to hook them up. help please?lol but i want solenoids and poppers. im gonna get lambos and i want it to open up all by its self.
Re: Does anyone have door poppers?
if you go to Autoloc's website, it shows you how to install and wire them up. But like Seiber said , you might have to custom mod the solenoids to keep an OEM look
