Blow off valve
Blow off valve
Down here in Australia as a P plater (young driver) we are not allowed to drive turbo cars until we are 20 or on our full liscence.... I love the sound that a BOV gives but carn't have it until I have a turbo... I was looking around on Ebay and I found this...

I know u hard core drivers out there are probley going to bag the living daylights out of me because hey it isn't a turbo and will most likley reduce power due to back pressure but hey I can finally have the BOV sound legally and at an awesome price.....Let me hear your feed back about it

Re: Blow off valve
i don't know what to say about that.. like do u know of n e one that has it?? from the description it mounts on your exhaust.... which i think is weird, i don't want a psssshhhhh coming from my exhaust. but hey for the price its worth a try. if u do it, make a video of it and post it on youtube
Re: Blow off valve
Yer I figured it was worth a go.... I know the sound is coming from the wrong end of the car but around here i'm amazed other drivers can distinguish the difference between a red and green light let alone where the whoooooshing sound is coming from..... So it should be here in a couple of days and ill let you guys know how it sounds...
Re: Blow off valve
...mad props for having ***** enough to ask that...you just came right out with the question too, some people are like "my friend wants a BOV sound without being able to have a turbo" but not you...+rep
Crack kills... But then again... So do I...

Re: Blow off valve
^^^I was gonna say the same thing. It's nothing more than a whistle for your exhaust. There's no real way to hear a true "psssht" sound without having the turbo short of recording it and playing it at your liking. There was talks a while back of sum guy trying to mount one to his intake... Anyone know what the results of that was?
Re: Blow off valve
Yer...from what I understand it works just like a whiltle and creates spool sound not the true "psssht" like nitrouspyro said.... if it dosent sound to good on my car I have a mate with a 77 leyland mini which has a tail pipe diameter of 3cm or 1 1/4 inch and the whistle only being 2.5cm wide maybe it will work better with a smaller tail pipe

Re: Blow off valve
Im still waiting on the bloody thing.... almost 2 weeks now to get something that weighs under 100 grams... But while I have been waiting for it, ive been hearing bad things from other people... Does anyone out there have first hand experience with one of these letting me know if ive wasted my money

Re: Blow off valve
one doesn't need first hand experience to tell you that. this is one of the dumbest things i've seen sold on ebay. are you going to get an interfooler to complete the faux turbo look??? also, are those electric superchargers illegal for you too?? if not, maybe you should look into one of those.
