ProCarParts intake - NO GOOD!
I just bought an SRI from procarparts.com. I know, I should have bought a better brand. The problem is that it doesnt fit. It will not clear the hood and interferes with my strut bar. I have done a search but was unable to find out if anyone makes a lower profile design. The AEM intakes are too high, but I have seen pictures of Injen intakes and they look like a low profile design. Can anyone tell me if this is true and post a close up picture of where it attaches to the throttle body? Thanks.

This is Allman's ride
Allman's ride...scroll down to see under his hood!
He's got the OBX bar I think...also the generic bars are similar in that you can't use alot of CAI's w/them and many SRI's either...
I believe the Injen SRI, and other SRI are the ones that will work...Check out the absense of the bend coming up out of the engine...That allows it to clear underneath the bar...Hope this helps!!!

I too fell vicitim to procarparts.com. i had to chop about an inch or so off the tube and trim up the blue rubber peice. all in all, more trouble than it's worth. get an injen sri, it clears strut bars with ease

You people. If I were you, do a search here on ProCarParts and see all the crappy stories and comments that you find. Let this be a lesson to you.

i think what allman did was convert his short ram into a CAI. the injen and AEM CAI's curve over onthe top but the short ram INJEN intake is flat. So you can fit any strut bar over the top. pretty clever if you ask me but i wonder if the air flow is smooth and not restricted

If your refering to my extension air flow point...no....the flow is continous with no interuptions..."BUT"...if your refering to the point at the throttle body..then I would say yes the flow is much more abrupt than the CAI race version.....but overall diiferences and probably negligable in our cars..Peace!...and thanks for the CLEVER COMMENT if you refering to the extension......or were your reffering to the Injen SRI design?????

thanks guys. I ordered the Injen SRI yesterday. It cost alot but it will be worth it and I plan on converting it to CAI. Still trying to get ProCarParts to take the intake back. No luck yet. They suck!

i was talking about the comparison to the race design
and yes it was clever to just buy the short and make an extension
now you dont have to worry about paying $100 dollas for a front strut and it interfering with the intake
but you already have one
the same ones i got but the front didn't fit cause i have a AEM style one

the InJen SRI design is pretty neato... to compensate for the flat top, it has the side rounded off to help fix the airflow restriction problem. if you take a look at the pic carefully u can see that its round.. on the side but not on the top...
I duno how well this works though. *shrug* but when u take a look at it, it looks like it should performe just as good as the others
