my c/f hood almost learnt to fly

so i was driving today on the highway with my VIS cf oem style hood (w/out hood pins). Now ive had this hood on and driven on highways for the past month or 2. Ive gone a little bit over the speed limit with out any problems either lol

this is what happened today though...it was really windy and sprinkling a little rain and i was cruising at 80-85mph (going back to my house) and changed over 2 lanes when i saw my hood come loose and bouncing up and down! I dont mean like it come undone, but when u pull ur hood lever inside the cabin and its loose...thats what the wind did for me. But it was all good, i pulled off and closed tight and drove 55 the rest of the way hah, but it was kinda scary

i havnt had any problems and im not too worried about it, but i hope that wen it came loose like that, it didnt weaken the latch or something?

was the hood correctly lined up? the latch is ad justable you can move it up or down.. see my friend did mine he ligned it up as close as to oem as possibe making sure there is no wide gaps.. he adjusted the latch because the way it was set by honda did not work too good locking on the cf hood... so we had to slide the latch up a lil so the hood hook can lock.. there are also 2 rubber cushions that are also used for the height of the hood ..
post some pics of the hood closed...
here r some pics of my hood lines

this is bad....

even though my friends hood has not flown away.. it does promote the chance too..

The wind has been terrible down here in south texas the las couple of days. Of course I live right by the water but still. I would really look into gettting some hood pins.

If the hood is a quality piece and aligned correctly then you should not need the pins.

and ofcourse having a hole in the middle or somewhere in the carbon hood, it will keep it from opening.

yeah the hood looks clean as anything! VIS oem hood, and it fits perfectly with the lines on fenders and in front. I messed with the latch and lowered it like you did

i was just worried that because a gust of wind made it come loose, that maybe it weakened the latch or something, but im guessing its fine...

I like that paint job on the sides of the hood. Im thinking of painting mine magnesium metallic on the sides like the rest of my car. I also put new mirrors with clear LED signals on the side, and I had them painted magnesium metallic too, they look sweet! ill take some pics on a nice day when its not cloudy and windy down here lol

The only thing thats holding me back from painting the sides of the hood is because i want to get black housing projector halo lights and idk if that will look better with the whole hood left as is..what do u think???

I'd say get some pins and be safe, if mine starts to do that I'm buying pins immediatly. Cause if that wind was a lil stronger it could have blown it all the way up causing thousands.

It'll prolly be fine but I'd say since it popped up once, you might want to get some pins to be safe.

There was this one time that I forgot to lock my hood pins and right down the street, my hood swung up and smashed my windshield to smitherines. yeah it sucked. Now I've needed a new hood ever since.
